Quick afternoon read. This book was FREE in iBooks as Part I of a series about the novel’s main character, Chloe Fine. It’s definitely a book that can stand alone, meaning, it was wrapped up enough at the end you don’t NEED book 2 unless you’re just invested in the characters. While this was an easy read, I’m not invested. Just ok. Probably won’t be paying for Book 2

Often like Black Pierce novels - this one was marginal. Didn't like the characters, the twin scene (good/bad) is trite, the plot unrealistic, especially how the dad murdered mm scenario played out, the characters totally unlikeable (all of them) - I only stuck with this one to discover how Chloe's mom really died - and THAT was a total disappointment.

Chloe Fine is a twin. A devastating event took place in their youth and neither of the girls recovered from it but dealt with it in their own ways. As soon as both girls could leave their grandma’s house, they did.

But now life has them back into their hometown and buried secrets won’t stay buried. Chloe is on the brink of being an FBI agent and is able to tag along with investigators to get real life experience. But one death in particular will set her world on end and she will be in a race against time to save her sister and discover the true culprit.

The narrator was decent, the story quick enough paced, but the twists and turns weren’t all that twisty or surprising.

I don't even know where to start... Maybe do a little research on police procedures? Even just talk to a first year CMJ student? Anyone who has ever watched a cop show? I just can't... This was written like a high schooler forced into a creative writing class.

Readable but completely unbelievable. Sloppily edited, with mistakes everywhere. Poor

I really enjoyed this book. Better than If She Knew for sure. A lot more twists, you always felt like you knew who was doing it and then got proved wrong.
