I struggled with these books, thouogh this one i liked enough to make me urious and keep reading. I will address the struggle below, but will note that this one didn't hit that wrong note as much because at least the relationship is established before the ethical/power differential relationship is in place. i will refrain from getting on my soapbox about the age difference, but just leave my standard neuropsychological reminder that the human brain is not fully cooked until the mid-20s. So if you're over that an dating someone under that, you're dating a teenager.

While I am a romantic at heart, I am also a big fan of boundaries, considerations of power, personal ethics and consent, and these really play with the edges of this without thinking about it. To use an analogy that is not my own - what if these took place in another setting? If, rather than professor and student these were about prisoner and guard, this would be a legal case, not a romance novel (though yes, i know those novels are written too). But in all three of these books, despite their characters having some likeable traits, there is very little consideration of the ethical questions at play, the very real power and priviledge that a professor holds in relation to students in their university, much less their specific courses, and people talking about this and the very real risks invollved before choosing to enter a relationship. Even if we allow for the romance novel trope of "we just got carried away by the attraction/our love", in each of novels there was a moment after a first physical encounter where a conversation COULD have happened, and distinctly DID NOT. This is either bad writing, or bad character. Either way, it left me caring less about the people involved. In the case of this novel in particular, there was just not enouch character building - so many nice glimpses, but just no depth into them struggling with the really meaty issues at play in their lives. As usual, I was left feeling like yelling "TALK TO EACH OTHER." For real - I love a steamy scene, but TALK just as much!!!

This is an age gap/forbidden contemporary romance novel that delivers a passionate and heartfelt story. The overall story is compelling. The characters are well-developed, and their chemistry is palpable, driving the plot forward with an intense emotional charge.
One issue I had is the repetitiveness and cheesiness of dialogue. These issues did hinder my enjoyment of the book at times.
Despite these issues, the book offers an enjoyable read for those who appreciate a passionate romance. Jacob Chance’s storytelling skills and character development shine through, making it a worthwhile read for fans of a steamy age gap romance.

I was excited for this, it's completely right up my alley; single fathers and age gaps are my weakness. Throw in the professor/student relationship and I was ready. Jacob Chance delivered a story that kept me hooked, though some parts felt slow. I enjoyed the humor and banter. Some drama felt thrown in and abandoned. There's strong chemistry between Sophie and Miles and the steam is hot. 3.5 stars

Another one of forbidden tropes that I soo soo love, student × teacher trope, you could not go wrong with that one if you play your cards right...

Miles Decker, the MMC, also the professor, is a broody grumpy man who had been cheated on and his wife left him with his best friend, and now he is a single father doing his best to love his son twice as much as he can possibly do so, and that is so beautiful the bond between him and his son, Joey.
Then there is Sophie, the FMC, the overachieving student who is doing her best to earn everything and doing the best of her job. That is very endearing.

The chemistry between these characters are awesome and finger lickin' good (iykyk).

All in all it was an amazing book and couldn't wait to reread it again sometime in the future

This was an incredible read. This is a student-teacher relationship story, and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed how the story was written and the characters of the story. Miles is a single dad and a professor at King University. He has a three-year-old boy, Joey, who might possibly be my favourite character. He was an adorable boy and he really loves his dad. During the summer, Miles taught at a different university and needed a babysitter to watch Joey, so his sister recommended Sophie as a babysitter. As the babysitting continues, both Miles and Sophie begin falling in love with one another until she goes off to university. Where they meet again, but as student and teacher. I loved the story. There was a lot of passion and love in this book. This was my first Jacob Chance book, and I really enjoyed it. I thought the chemistry between Miles and Sophie was amazing. Joey stole my heart from the moment he entered the story. I loved it so much. I cannot wait to read Cole's story next. Overall, an amazing read.

Cheesy

Super cheesy but mildly cute. Not exactly what I was expecting and the scene with the ex wife seemed forced as well as quickly swept away with little discourse

I loved the storyline and idea for this book. I also loved the writing style. I have read all of this author's books and I have enjoyed each one. That being said, I wanted a little more with this one. As much as I enjoyed it, I wanted a little more angst and emotion in the story. It also felt a little rushed. However, I liked the characters and I was definitely intrigued by this story and would still recommend it and I look forward to more in this series.

This had some great moments and others that didn't resonate with me. That being said, still an interesting book that seemed more nanny father romance than the professor student one I was expecting.
