A large part of this high rating is the drama in the second half! Mia finally snapped.

I do understand where she’s coming from—partially. Michael was very dismissive during their argument and did not show the emotional intelligence I have (and I think Mia has) come to expect. Mia  absolutely overreacted, and could have been a lot more clear—I feel bad for Michael, because that conversation devolved quickly.

Lily sucked, as always haha. Had some good points, to be clear, like she normally does, but the conclusions she made and her delivery were…horrid.

I get that Mia's a teenager, but she really annoyed me in this one. She was going through it for sure, but she was also being way too dramatic about it.

Mia was kinda annoying to read to read about this one, cause micheal slept with another girl named Judith and she was all really emotional so it was really annoying to read about. Mia thinks the term "Going Out" meant doing it with a girl. Mia sometimes is really stuipd.

I remember distinctly that this book was the one I stopped reading when I was in high school. I have always strongly identified with Mia, and I think something about her agency in this book really freaked me out back in 2005 or '06 or whenever it was. Mia's decisions in the preceding books didn't feel like they had as far-reaching of consequences as they do in Princess on the Brink, and I think between Mia and Michael's break-up and Mia and Lilly's friend break-up, I was slightly to moderately devastated when I first read this book.

What's sad (and/or encouraging, maybe? Who knows) is how absolutely wrecking PotB still is for me. I don't think it's my favorite of the series, but it's still emotionally affecting. I'm going to keep trucking through the series (what else do I have to do right now???) and hope there's light at the end of the tunnel, but... geez Louise.

Love these books, love princess Mia, but she and her weird morality complex thing are SO insufferable in this book, dear God. She is also SO dense it is painful, but I am very intrigued to see where book nine goes (hopefully towards her getting her shit together)!

Everytime this series focuses on sex and relationships, it's absolute garbage. I wish Cabot dealt with these very real teenage anxieties without so much ridiculous slapstick. It's hard to root for Mia when she feels like a cartoon. It's a shame that a series I liked as a teen ended up doing a real disservice to teen girls. Nothing Mia does or says has any grip on reality. Just... No.
