3.5/5 - I listened to this as an audiobook, which at times I really enjoyed (the stories and quotes) and at times I didn’t like it at all (the travel details for each country - listening to someone read the prices for taxis into the city and public transport options was not enjoyable. It’s a mixed bag.

It was fine? I’ve never watched or read any of Anthony Bourdain’s work, and this was put together as a compilation of his travel record and essays by friends/family after his death. I did appreciate the quick summaries of a lot of locations in one place but listening to it on audiobook was like having a lonely planet guide drilled into your head for an entire day straight.

I wouldn't recommend this book as there is nothing new here.
The book itself was not written by Anthony Bourdain, which the author is very honest about throughout. Tony was, however, involved in the planning of the book.
The book itself is structured like a 'best of' or clip show in written form. It's full of quotes from Tony that come from his many shows/essays but not much original content made explicitly for the book came from Tony himself.
Understanding that Tony is no longer with us, I felt the book was a reasonable enough effort but I think I would have enjoyed my time watching the many shows he recorded over the years instead. (which I'm doing right now :) )

So many of us miss Anthony Bourdain beyond words can describe. This amazing book gives us both an insight into all his travels and the best bucket list anybody could ever ask for!

Literally anything Bourdain I'll be guaranteed to love. This is basically an old school travel guide, taking quotes and reviews from his years of interviews and shows. Particularly great just now as you feel like you're travelling vicariously through him (exactly how I felt when I watched Parts Unknown). Love love love, but always a little sad as it's another reminder of what the world has lost in him.

I love Bourdain a lot so even though I understood exactly what I was getting with this I just wanted another piece of his art. The book is fine, just fine but does (because of how it was built) pale when compared to anything else with his name on it

The best of this book was the small vignettes of memories from various friends and family. This truly is a travel guide - and will be a reference for future adventures.

Didn’t quite read it cover to cover, but like an all-you-can-eat buffet, took bits and pieces and savored. Loved the quotes from Tony and loved reading about his recs for places I’ve been and places yet to go. Warning: may increase wanderlust.
