i enjoy paul tremblays writing quite a bit. his style is easy to read but engrossing, like a friend telling you a story. his ideas are novel and dark but weirdly hopeful and realistic. i hope to read more of him soon

i unfortunately am not the target audience for this series and even though i tried, i do not want to finish this book let alone all 500 of the books in the series

i vaguely enjoyed reading this book but found it repetitive and condescending. i respect a lot of books written for a specific audience but this one couldn’t decide if it was for people who loved 80s stuff or everyone else. it was weirdly misogynistic and tried to sweep that under the rug with aech's identity reveal. idk. i get liking this, but it checked pretty much no boxes for me besides being easy to read.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

obviously after it’s rerelease under a more appropriate name, agatha christie’s classic definitely still amuses. it’s filled with quite a few dated thoughts, expressions, and worldviews, but overall the suspense and twists stand the test of time. it’s heralded as a classic in the genre for a reason

ruth ware writes thrillers so well. her writing is immersive and intelligent but still colloquial. i always enjoy picking up a book by her and the it girl was no different.

I don’t think anyone needs to read this let alone finish it. i love horror but this is poorly written and gratuitous in a very concerning way.
