This book put my opinion about it through the wringer, to be completely honest. I wanted to like it, I really did, but I found myself being completely and utterly disappointed. Liliana Carlisle's writing but nice, but it lacks the ability to truly grasp what she seemingly wanted to show with the plot. I found it hard to keep myself interested at times, then other times I could hardly put my kindle down.
Erik, and alpha who is in prison for murder, falls in love with Ellie, an omega behavioral analyst that has been assigned his case. The story is completely based on their lust for each other with little, to no, context on the societal standings of alphas, betas, and omegas or on either of the characters' backgrounds. With hardly any character development until toward the end of the book, I was extremely disappointed when I found that Carlisle did not do much to tie any lose ends together or really have any sort of resolution that lasted longer than a page.
All of this being said, the character backgrounds that were given were interesting, even if it felt as though they were thrown in to keep the story from solely being about sex. I liked the "mystery" of what Erik had given revenge for and what Ellie had wanted revenge for. The book was not entirely horrible after I got to the end of the book where all of the "magic" seemed to happen and Carlisle attempted to tie the lose ends together.
I would not recommend this book to anyone who wants to read anything but complete "smut". However, I do recommend this book for those who would like a quick, spicy read and aren't wanting much of a plot.
