Funny and sweet and thoughtful and also heist?! Gay?!? Yes please. I hadn't read an M.T. Anderson book in a long time, and I'm definitely going to be looking into what I've missed.

My reading experience of Masters of Death definitely suffered from the length of time over which I read it, and as much as I liked the audiobook narrator, I think I might have been more able to keep track of things if I read it in print. I did enjoy it though, and I suspect I would enjoy it more on a reread. I would've loved some more worldbuilding and/or character development though, given the relative lack of plot.

I liked the elements of the story here, but the execution wasn't great. The pacing was slow for the first half, yet that time wasn't used to develop the characters as much as I'd have liked. I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as When No One Is Watching.
