i knew i was saving the 5 stars for something

this book had me fidgeting in my seat then ugly crying.

the character, all of them, i love them all.

cardan and jude i fell in love with. i could not have asked for a better ending (especially with the possibility of it going the other way)

again, no character is perfect and i love them for it. holly black had me in the palm of her hand.

from the battle at the beginning to the slain snake at the end. i loved every bit of this book.

i love cardan so this book was a real treat to see his perspective and learn more about his life. finished it super fast but am now so sad that i’ve finished everything and have to leave the world.

this book was really enjoyable, and if i had read this at a younger age i can see it being one of my favourites

loved silus, his guardian, and felt so safe having him around for bod throughout his whole life. i always knew bod would be fine.

i loved how the jack plotline was somehow evident, yet not overpowering other really important elements of this story, particularly with bods experience with the witch and her headstone.

the ending broke my heart, although i would not have had it any other way. bod deserved to live, i just wish he could have maintained some sort of contact with the dead. but, alas, this is the way it had to be.

this book had me guessing and guessing and i will say it is predictable at certain parts (harry i guessed you long ago), but it didn’t take away from the excitement too much

the grandsons - grayson, xander, nash, and jameson. so many mixed feelings with all of them but i will say i was always the most drawn to grayson. jameson made me feel iffy at certain points as though he could turn at any given moment (but the cleaning wound scene in the cottage

JUST finished this book and i am so speechless BUT I WILL SAY I AM SO GRATEFUL IT DIDNT END ON A CLIFFHANGER LIKE BOOK 1 DID

this book was so much more intense - the puzzles, the stakes, the riddles, the CONFUSION. the plot twists kept going back and forth and my brain was loving it.

grayson and jameson once again… AVERY PICK ONE (i want her to pick grayson but i don’t think she will)

i loved that we got to see more of the family’s inner secrets like zara and skyes history with nash’s dad, everything about toby, the history surrounding the relationships - i ate it all up

i was happy there was more clarification in this book because i was starting to have more questions, particularly with rebecca and thea.

skye and ricky are in prison, and ricky IS her dad - i am so sad that it isn’t actually toby

overall, everything was so fun. mellie and eli felt a little random but i guess it makes sense right. i loved the trip to true north that felt so nice, having a different atmosphere.

i’m super excited for book 3, and i wonder if it’ll be a 5 star read

cute story, finished it in 20 minutes and read it to my mum.

i liked seeing this take on the story, and it was disgusting to see the males actions from the female pov, as normally it is so looked over in the original story.

seeing the way he purely sexualises her, only likes her when she is obedient, and degrades anything he deems impure (her stretch marks as an eg). he made me sick, especially because there are so many men who have the same mentality as him in real life. it is unfortunately, not just a story.

this was so nostalgic to read even though i’ve never read it before (going to rewatch the movies right now). obviously because it’s an old book the writing is a little hard to follow, but the actual story is super easy to understand. i wish there was more of tinker bell in the book, but i did really enjoy the parts of her that were there (you silly ass).

wendy’s nurturing nature was very nice to read and i found her to be comforting (i found her annoying in the movies)

james hook was such a sad soul and i couldn’t dislike him. he was a broken broken man

favourite character is nana im sorry she was so cute

this book was exactly what i was craving when i started it - a light romance, palette cleanser, feel-good, butterflies in my stomach.

i have a few things that annoyed me - 1. why was olive so oblivious about absolutely everything 😭 i understand it’s part of her character and that she needed to be oblivious for certain things to happen, but my gosh woman. 2. it kinda annoyed me how much it would talk about how BIG adam was. i understood it the first 10 times it was mentioned.

other than these though, i ate this book up. their romance, their chemistry, the humour between them. i loved it all. it was cheesy in the right ways, especially being a fake-dating romance.

i loved adam and how he was not even a real grumpy man. he had the gentlest heart and i loved it. him paying attention to little details (chocolate protein bar🥹) made me mush. filled my little rom com heart.

tom was such a sleazy rat and i had bad feelings about him the second he was introduced, and then holden confirmed it by saying he shouldn’t be trusted. i was just waiting for the moment to happen.

also, i was WAITINGGGGG for olive to realise the recording. the second she said she left her phone recording at home i was like HELLO THE EVIDENCE IS RIGHT THERE. but i had to wait till basically the end of the book for it to play out. i didn’t mind since i would have been disappointed if that didn’t happen at all.

overall this book was definitely a fun fake dating romance and was perfect for what i needed right now - something to give me the warm butterfly feelings

honestly, this wasn’t all that. i was bored during it, but i’m still going to read the series because it’s my friends favourite.

talon, i don’t like you and haven’t felt connected to you, same with jade. i just don’t have that burning feeling for these characters, but who knows maybe it’ll grow.

was so bored during all the smut. insta-love vibes are not for me and i don’t really like when characters will sleep together almost instantly. there’s not enough sexual tension for me, and i just get bored and cringe.

don’t get me started on the dirty talk - blue eyes? no (also ‘baby’ in books makes me cringeeee).

also, talon keeps talking about jades eyes and how much he loves them but also talks about how she has her mums eyes and he remembers seeing them on an erotic poster on his brothers wall???? this rubs me the wrong way sorry but it’s a major turn off and makes me sick

the smut wasn’t good for me. was bored during. but again, this is probably because i wasn’t hooked from the start.

my attention only piqued when the drama started popping up - the law side of things, the mystery, the family secrets - give me more of that.

also larry, weirdo, i’m putting a theory here that he’s probably one of the guys from talons past.

this is all personal opinions and this probably just isn’t the series for me, but i’m powering through to see how it unravels.

note to self: rose on cover = rose on pillow?

okay okay finally!!! we got some mystery and a lotttt of information about talons past and i’m happy jade is starting to get linked and is actually more useful now

LARRY I GUESSED YOU THE SECOND I MET YOU. knew you were the missing toe rapist. but can i just say… it’s one thing to do it to a random kid, but to do it to your half nephew?? that’s a whole new level

i probably would have given this 3.5 stars if it had been a pure mystery with a subplot of romance, but this is just not that type of book. the erotica in this isn’t for me, their relationship im still not convinced of. the only time i felt anything was when they cuddled on the couch for 40 mins while the casserole was cooking… it was the most real i’ve seen them.

i’m happy to see that talon is finally going to the psychologist and talking it alll out. BUT why is she making me so suspicious!!??? maybe i’m just suspicious with everyone now

i feel bad for marj because she’s just so out of the loop with everything so i hope she actually gets informed of all the info asap.

also, WHERES NICO? AND JADes mum???

many questions. i’m happy that the mystery is sufficient enough to get me to continue.
