A Lot Like Adiós by Alexis Daria

4.5 ⭐
Alexis Daria just gets it! I first fell in love with You Had Me At Hola and felt so seen by the Latinx representation. So of course I pre-ordered A Lot Like Adiós!
This story is a second chance friends to lovers and is something I surprisingly hadn't read yet. But from the first page, the takes your hand and wraps you in a blanket of comfort and familiarity. It was very easy to read, fall into the story, and fall in love with the characters.
Michelle and Gabe have a history, but they're also coming to terms with where they're both at in their present (both together and separately). I enjoyed the easiness between the two characters and they way you could tell they had history without it having to be explained. They got each other and the reasoning behind the way they acted, but also allowed for the nuances in the way each had changed since they'd last been together. I really enjoyed how these characters were written.
I also really enjoyed getting to see their families and the relationships they have with them. We got a glimpse of this in A Lot Like Adiós, but it was great to see my own family reflected back at me.
All in all it was great, easy, and fun read. Different enough from the fist book to keep it interesting and stand on its own. And, I think this goes without saying, I will be pre-ordering Michelle's story too! (Putting it into the ✨universe✨ because I love the Primas of Power and need more!)
