I didn't finish this book. I got to about page 70 and just couldn't carry on anymore. I didn't find the book interesting at all. There was too much talk about God and not much of anything else. I can't stand God talk - myself not knowing where I am on that scale of things - and with it being filled with it, I just couldn't cope anymore. This is not one I would pick up again and I felt like I wasted several days worth of reading on this rubbish.

The story of a man haunted by the ghosts of his past only, one of the ghosts seems to be following him around. A Quiet Belief In Angels is an extremely sad book. Every time the main character, Joseph gets something happy happen to him, it seems to be taken away again before he can enjoy it. A well written book which I couldn't put down. Really can't wait to read his next book.

I was looking forward to reading this but when I picked it up, I found it extremely difficult. Like other reviewers have said, I thought the accent would just fall into place after reading a chapter or so but it just didn't. I struggled until half way through when I just gave up. Most of the time I had no idea what was going on. Mr. Palahniuk is very intelligent to be able to a write a story like this but then again, what's the point if no one but him understands what's going on? I would love to be able to say that I understood it entirely but I didn't. I really love Chuck Palahniuk but I was very disappointed with this one. It killed my love for reading and I've struggled to get back into reading this since I put it down about three months ago.

Like other people have said, I really found this book hard to get through. It took me at least a month to read and I was a little disappointed with it as I really enjoyed The Savage Garden. The last three chapters kept me up an hour past bedtime to read because I wanted to know what happened but the rest of the book just didn't really do much for me.

I haven't really been into reading that much recently though so that may be a factor as to why I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have. For me there was too much about the war and not enough about the case he was working on.
