The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia

This was a solid debut that kept me guessing! I was invested in Stephanie and Jasmine’s stories. Their lives are totally unrelated but when they end up on the same flight and text their friends about the same man something is definitely up. When both women end up missing the real question is who is this mystery man and how are they all connected? I don’t want to give too much away but this was a great mystery!

If you are missing a traditional romcom, similar to Sleepless in Seattle I have the book for you! Aiden is the host of a romance hotline radio show but he’s feeling a bit pessimistic and stuck in a rut. That is until he received an interesting call that caught his attention. In walked Lucie into his life. This was a sweet one perfect for Valentine’s Day week.

I love a sweeping saga and this fit the bill! In LA Haiwen goes to the market and spots Suchi for the first time in sixty years. As a reader we get swept up in their history through six decades of Chinese history, from meeting as children to everything in between. This is an epic tale.

Well, this is quite the book title! Warning though, this book has nothing to do with an octopus. This is a story of female friendship, familiar discovery, finding yourself and what you really mean to the world.

I don’t know why but this story was just perfect for a winter read! Ex-Chicago detective Carrie is lost. After her daughter’s murder she decides to take a job as tribal marshal. Girls go missing on the reservation and dark memories return. This was a good one. Also, the author’s note was so interesting!

This was a fun rom com that takes the reader on a literal journey to a wedding. When the maid of honor and best man both get stranded they head to the hotel bar. Unbeknownst to them they are headed to the same wedding. Soon enough they are on the adventure of a lifetime to the wedding. Of course, there’s a bit of misadventures, travel chaos and love along the way!
This was super fun with a sweet ending and it’s out now!
Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter

Thank you @berkleypub and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Painter’s books are so much fun! I’m not going to lie I was a little nervous about reading this book because I assumed there would be some miscommunication, and that is a big no for me in a book, but I can assure you that is not the case!

Isabella is typically an honest person but on her first day of work she is running late. As she’s waiting impatiently for her psl at Starbucks she finally does something uncharacteristic for her. When a psl for Amy doesn’t get picked up she grabs it. Karma quickly comes back to get her when she spills said drink on a handsome man. Of course, handsome man just so happens to be her new boss.
.
Painter always creates the perfect witty banter and heart warming side characters. Plus the made up game the group of friends play is straight up hilarious. I binged this one in a day!

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

This books is straight up bananas in the best way. If you are familiar with Hendrix books it is definitely filled with horror, graphic details but also so much heart. Set in the summer of 1970 four girls bond over a book. This is not a normal book. This is also not a normal summer. The girls are spending the summer hiding away at a home for pregnant girls. This would be such a good creepy tv show!

Back from vacation and back to reality!
So, I have very complicated feelings about this book. I could not turn the pages fast enough. Does it mean I loved the book? No. Did it keep me engaged the entire time? Yes. So how do you rate a book like that? I thought it was written excellently, I hated pretty much everyone but I was sucked in and I gasped several times and the twists really got me. With that being said it would be a great book club book because there is a lot to unpack with this one! I can’t wait to discuss it with my bookish besties!

The Three Lives of Cate Kay by Kate Fagan

I really enjoyed the concept of this. A bestselling author has kept her identity hidden for years and it’s time to finally come clean.
.
I really liked the multiple pov as well as the footnotes with her impression of these pov. I really liked the novel inside this story. I would have totally read that trilogy and probably have been obsessed with the movies. Overall this was a good story that I read in a day!
