How do I even begin to describe how I feel about this book.
I like it in the way you like an ugly but healthy puppy, is it ugly? Yes, but it’s still living and breathing and you end up developing an attachment to it anyway. I could barely put it down, but at the same time I really wanted to put it down.
Briseis (our main character) is boring and just bland. I don’t like her and that should not be the case!  In a book supposedly meant to be centred around women, why is there only one woman’s pov but two mens? And why are both the men far more interesting than the woman? Pat if you wanted to write specifically just about Patroclus and Achilles, that’s okay! My favourite parts of the book involved just the two of them.
I also don’t get why the last line is ‘Now, my own story can begin’ if the books whole point was supposed to be the story of Briseis, and I didn’t like the changes to the myth including who she marries and
The reveal of her pregnancy, like??? Bit weird but okay

Tldr
Loved Patrochilles moments
Hated Briseis she was boring
Didn’t like the changes to the myth
This didn’t feel very feminist

This was really interesting, at first I hated it, and found it super boring. The final two acts made me enjoy it and the ending section bumped it up to 3.5 stars!
I liked how Eliza remained independent in
her choices by getting married to Freddy and getting a flower shop.

I love Voltron but this books has a couple errors, for example Antok’s page isn’t Antok, it’s Kolivan with his mask on. As a Voltron super fan I’d recommend this for someone who needs information about some of the planets and a simple understand of seasons 1-2 as that’s all the book covers. (Bearing in mind there’s eight seasons overall). It’s fun to see the paladins writing in the book, not fun to see Lance bullying Keith (Keith’s my favourite) but nothings new there.

This book was beautiful, I adored its writing and it’s incredibly interesting takes on philosophical topics. So many great one liners! I loved Dorian’s development and the ending shocked me and left me feeling so curious for more. Oscar Wilde is an icon.

This was such a fun read! Love the sapphic elements, I wish it was longer and had more moments like that
