I read it out loud to my siblings. Oh, but they loved it.

Things I liked about it:
There is no actual violence.
It's not nightmare material for little children.
The little guy got punished for being rude, but his mom made him supper after all.
Such a perfect ending.

The poetic sadness and hope.
it is written in sadness—
that we often wish
our lives to be
small brooks—
winding their casual
way across the
peaceful meadows—
when they were meant to be—
great seas—whose
smallest waves wash
the distant shores
of infinity—
The higher calling.
To joy, love, and a dawn beyond these misted years.
and not remember eyes once dimmed by tears
that fell unbidden in the lonely night—
come—

Definitely one of my favorite authors. His descriptions—I see and feel everything. I will be reading more of his works.

The longer I think about this book the more I like it. One thing that has brought my opinion up (and I am embarrassed that I didn't catch on sooner) this is a nonfiction book. Why did I not notice? Oh well. I think I had a bad attitude about it because I had a cold while I was reading and when I have a cold I have a bad attitude about most things. There are parts of the book that definitely brought my opinion down, but they were not the author's fault; they were my opinions and preferences.

I feel like I should have loved this book more. I think I should have cried. But—I didn't. It's a great book but something is missing and I don't know what or where.

Ok, I suppose basically no one would read this book as a story book. But if you have any excuse at all to read it, do. I totally reccomend it. Not only is the author informative, she is also funny. Another thing I sincerely appreciate is her personal experience. She is so great.
