I really love this series with my whole heart. Our MC, Suzume, is very likeable. She appreciates every food that is given to her, no matter how simple, savoring each with gratitude that it makes me happy simply seeing her eat. Not only being presented by the detailed description of the food, the author goes the extra miles to slip some history lessons in the book. Every relationship that she makes along the way is very precious, especially with the grandmother. Her innocence makes all kinds of people adore her, including me as a reader. I wish there were more volumes, I wouldn't get tired of reading them.

No matter where you go, or how many books you read, you still know nothing, you haven’t seen anything. And that’s life. We live our lives trying to find our way.

Attached above is one among many of my favorite passages in the book. Crazy that I have 71 highlights when the book is only 150 pages. And it just... makes me feel so seen. Highly recommended if you're looking for a short and comforting book!
