Incredibly poignant. This book is such a beautiful story about finding our place and chosen families as well as coming to terms with our pasts so we can live our futures.
You can just feel the author's passion for the subject in this book. This is an enjoyable and engaging read about trees and their reactions with humans, history, and each other. I have learned so many wonderful things from this book. Definitely recommend!

An absolutely beautiful story about a young Asian American girl who feels that she does not belong. This story is full of adventure and mythology. It is a powerful showing of how we can find our way back ourselves and how important it is to be our truest selves.
This was a fun read. Relatively low stakes and the perfect amount of spice. I absolutely loved Garrett. He is definitely a keeper, however I really did not understand why Mags kept the other guy around as long as he was, I feel like while I guess it was semi necessary to the plot, it just seemed drawn out. Also I don't believe Mags ever official told him it was over. Like she just dropped him and he disappeared. Otherwise it was enjoyable.

I love a good fairytale retelling and this one did not disappoint. The changes to the traditional stories definitely adds to the excitement and helps to make it more relatable to the middle grade age group. This story is full of adventure, friendship, and how seeing things from a different perspective can be the answer to how to find your way onto your own path. It's about the journey and what we learn not the destination.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the E-arc in exchange for an honest review.
While this book had beautiful artwork and included a good amount of information I wasn't that impressed by it. Maybe for someone new to the idea of grounding it would be better. While I liked finding out about the grounding places and foods, as well as a refresher on chakras I found the amount of "grounding" background information to be overpowering of the amount of grounding techniques. For a book with its title I just expected more.
This friends to enemies to lovers story is definitely worth a read. The characters are relatable and their journeys to find themselves and and find their way back to each other will have you routing for them all along the way. I love the representation in this book, from the LGBTQIA characters, to children of abuse or absent parents and those being raised by single parents. No two families look alike in this story and I find it so heartening to see that reality in this story.
