We are not defined by our traumas. You repeat this in increments of three and then four and then ten.
Too tired to write a coherent review but this was good

——Pray reach me my fool’s cap—— I fear you sit upon it, Madam——’tis under the cushion——I’ll put it on——
Bless me! you have had it upon your head this half hour.——

Literally an 18th century social experiment. I have no idea how I feel about this book. I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it. I think if I was alive in 1763 I would have fucked with this heavy. It is a shame I am like, 260 years late to the party. I would have been like Yes Tristram. Fuck the Dutch. If anything this book made me speculate on the kind of life I'd live if I were alive when it was coming out volume-by-volume. This is probably one of the most seriously unserious books to grace this planet. Perhaps the true cock and bull story was the friends we made along the way, &c &c..

I smoothed the rough bits between the dangling flaps of bifurcated tail, trying to conceal the damage I had done, pretend it was part of the original design. Oooohhhh, sighed the thing. It began to breathe.

I really wanted this to be a five star read for me but it is a bit too discombobulating.. I personally had a hard time deciding what to focus on and the ending fell a bit flat. But there's some really amazing prose and concepts here and I was engaged but for some reason I could not visualize nor really get into the sections with Miranda, I really preferred Nu Wa's portions

He touched, he examined the fatal casque; nor could even the bleeding mangled remains of the young Prince divert the eyes of Manfred from the portent before him.

Cliches be damned I'm watching this space as a gothic lit superfreak

I Caen't Even Lie-- I kind of Love how this Book was Written; so Sprawling; so Expansive, Paragraphs going On and On in this Way Which makes it Quite Difficulte to Quote as one is really not Particularly sure where One Sentimente ends and Another Begins-- but I took no great Pleasure in reading this book, Seeing that it took me So very long, and that I was made to Write a Paper about it made the Predicament even Woerse-- but of course it Grows upon you, like a weary Vine-Riddled Home, and I also Loved the inexplicable Italicization and Capitalization of random Phrases and Nouns, which I understand were traditions of the Era but were Funny to Read nonetheless, this being said, of course, This was still a Slog overall, and I shall resolve to spend the Remainder of my Years in sincere Gratitude that, Hopefully, I need not pick this book up Againe.
