The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I loved this book! It made me angry, and sad, and hopeful. And, I admired these three women so much. What strength it took for women back then to take that leap. It's fiction, but just as important for people to read as learning about Dr. King and Rosa Parks. Sometimes I think we're so removed from that era, despite it being only 50 years, that we forget people were literally putting their lives on the line for freedoms some of us don't even appreciate. This is a story that had to be told, the good and the bad. Sometimes it's worth the consequences of taking that leap of faith, that risk.

I usually like Ms. Jackson's work, but I'm starting to notice patterns in her writing that annoy me. The choppy sentences, the repetitive phrases, the telling not showing descriptions that don't really describe anything. At least this particular heroine wasn't some virgin ingenue. I didn't feel we actually got to know the 2 main characters.
