“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”

- Emily Brontë

That was such a heart melting read. I do recommend this to YA romance readers. Rishi stole my heart <3

My only problem really was the ending of this. The climax of this story was really the strongest part of the book and if I stopped reading at the middle I would have rated this 5 stars but some scenes were just too cliche and cutesy for me to handle (since I am not that kind of person). But if you are the type of person who likes reading things like that then go ahead. I'm not stopping you cuz this was a good book :D

Th way it tackled certain problems in the real, teenage world so bluntly was also a very good addition to the book.

moving my rating a little bit lower but it's probably just because we are still getting introduced to all the characters. i really like the positive lgbtq references and even though we still haven't gotten to most of the juicy scenes yet it's still a solid & fun intro to the novel <3 highly recommend starting this graphic novel !!

it's a nice time.

/ read a book with purple on the cover

I really enjoyed reading this book and it had really good messages. The illustrations were also well done and conveyed the dark-ish tone well.

If you are looking for a bit of a dark graphic novel I recommend trying out this one.

never judge a book by it’s title, it’s cover and it’s synopsis. i got so much more than i bargained for in this book. I ENJOYED THIS SO MUCH THAT I CAN JUMP UP AND DOWN AROUND WILL’s YARD.

A lot of things went down.

I can say this is one of the books that are better written among the Kasie West books. With character development and relationships that were actually heartfelt and written so well I couldn’t help but feel everything.

Even though the plot was something I expected, the details were very much unexpected, although pleasant. I don’t want to reveal more in hopes of not spoiling those who have yet to read it. It was deep in the parts I needed it to be and light in the parts that I wanted it to.

Though there were so many things that were left unexplained and were unanswered but it was fine since they Hayden and Gia had me giggling or crying at every chapter.

“We rarely find depth by looking inside of ourselves for it. Depth is found in what we can learn from the people and things around us. Everyone, everything, has a story, Gia. When you learn those stories, you learn experiences that fill you up, that expand your understanding. You add layers to your soul.”

on to the next Kasie West book!!! i’m on a spree idf anyone hasn’t noticed :)

it's sad because I was actually so excited to finally be able to read this book :((

"She didn't know it wasn't a choice. He was alone."

I just found this book so sad and depressing and I could not find it in myself to be able to connect with any of the characters. Though, I did start to feel some of the characters much more midway through the book. The story and the plot was really slow and I cannot find the point of everything that was going on. I was not a fan of the incorporation of drugs into the story. Not my cup of tea.

Amanda's character was perfect. . .maybe too perfect for a story like this. It's not a cliche story but, I guess what I expected was a very cheesy love story, based on the title and how the cover made me feel when I saw it.

In the end, I felt bad for both Matt and Amanda (not exactly sure why). It isn't because I hated this book but more for the fact that I really didn't feel anything that was going on in the book. I guess I am just more of a happy, light, deep person when it comes to books. I don't really like anything too depressing.

// I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. //

First thing I thought about this book was how common the title of it was (I found around 13 books with the same exact title!), but when I actually got to reading it I realized that it was actually a pretty clever title for the book and actually fits it.

For me, I personally don't like the theme of the book. The first part was pretty slow and it took time for Shane to even be introduced into the story. Though, I loved Shane a lot and his character here. Kelly is my favorite female character in this book though with how constant she was and she was just perfect for her role in the story. This book was pretty much insta-love and I have to admit I'm not a fan of it first of all, especially when it isn't executed properly. So this might have also had an impact on the story for me, but you know.

The plot of the book was not something I liked and I got bored of following even though Shane and Beth were okay as a love ship.

“now don’t you go falling in love”

When I saw the cover of this book the first things that came to my mind was adventure. I was disappointed that it was not really about the roadtrip itself but it focused on other topics that I was really happy with.

The tone of the book was really warm which fit the familial relationships that were focused on. It was sweet and I really like the author was able to show a bit of the life after they found their dad and the tiems that they spent with him. How different it is and how it certainly brings change because there a lot of peopl eout there who can relate to stories like this. It also exposed the fact that our parents are not the perfect beings that we believed them to be when we were younger but they certainly try their best and they do what they think is best for their chldren.

I think the YA genre needs more books that have topics like this. Especially because these are very real topics that are prevalent in the real world.

Anyhow, even though I liked the overall tone of the book, the pacing of the plot threw me off and it was not effective enough to really bring enough of a reaction out of me. The topic was good but the execution was lacking, for me.

I also got really annoyed of our female MC in some parts. I mean, she FAINTED when she found out that some strong shampoo removed her hair coloring. First of all, I know this is a form of self expression and I am not saying that's its wrong to have colored hair but. . . did she not notice the color running down when she was washing her hair with water?? You can always have it painted over and I do not understand how she would have fainted. This scene just bothered me a lot.

Still, I am absolute trash for good friendship stories. This was a sweet read and though it was not the best in terms of execution, it contains topics that the YA world needs to be reading more.

"I'm thinking perfect is overrated"

This started out pretty great okay. The ending touched my heart too.

But I had such a huge problem with the inconsistency of the plot, the characters and the theme of the story. I mean, Liam's death was suppose to be the focus of this book but it was gone completely by the middle of the book but revived again by the end. It turned more into a love story when I think the love story should just be a part of it and not the focus of everything all together. It made the book more generic and it really lost its potential rather than if the author just focused on how Scarlett gets over her brother and meets this one guy on the way or something. This book turned to be more on Scarlett getting over a guy she got romantically involved in.
Spoiler (she literally said she was going to get over him 4 times and she did the exact opposite of it and went out on a date with him and even made out with him and everything)

in a detailed conclusion. . .

Spoiler

What I liked:

- Z A C H
- initial idea of the book (Liam's death and Scarlett trying to get over it)
- Vadu, Vandaan, Vundan, . . . what?? well, that guy. he's cool.
- writing style
- other band members, except Declan
- Scarlett talking about Liam in the first and last chapters

What I did not like:

- that "out-of-nowhere-plot-twist" near the end (that was just so random, there was barely any explanation and it was never stated and explained how it fit into the plot)
- inconsistent theme
- Scarlett being a badass woman who doesn't need anybody one minute then having a complete 180 character change wherever Declan is involved
- (which reminds me) D E C L A N

Speaking of Scarlett, I was so annoyed of her character. I think this was a weak point of the book as well, the characters. I did not get hooked with them as I usually do and I think character connection to the readers is really what keeps the readers of a certain book hooked to the story.

this book also had some technical mistakes that might need fixing. the cover could be better. . . ? maybe changing the color scheme and some minor things could make it so much better.

BUT PLEASE DO KNOW THAT I ENJOYED THIS!! It does not mean I rated it 2 stars it means I don't like it. There were parts that I liked a whole lot but the negative comments outweigh the positive ones. It just needs a lot of improvement.

Thank you to Europe Comics and Netgalley for the ARC to review

For the most part, the story was not for me because I was really expecting something much more unique based on the premise and the way the book was represented. Even so, what I did enjoy the graphics and the way the story was told. Unlike most comics and graphic novels I've seen Berrio was not afraid to display the progression of some scenes, which I liked since it has been my pet peeve in reading comics.

Going back to the plot, there were multiple scenes that featured people smoking, which I am personally against. This is the result of my rating being lower than usual. I expected our lead character to talk more about the places they were together in and perhaps their memories and whatnot, but I did not get a lot of that going through the book.

I got a gloomy vibe from seeing the cover and the title of the book, which spills into the color scheme throughout the pages, but the plot itself and the characters themselves were not able to represent that enough for me. And I need to mention again how the plot was just really not for me. And it did end weirdly for me.

"You can't help anyone if you don't help yourself first."

A classic. . . not so cliche . . .but actually is . . . story.

The survival tips before every other chapter or so in this book is so creative and cute. It's like saying that every teenager needs tips to survive (which is true). The plot is very relatable, and even though the first part was pretty much cliche, towards the end it started to talk more about life topics and it was a good transition. I did not find the writing style boring at all, I actually dig it.

A character named Rebel was something very. . . uh. . . unique. Though I didn't know she was a character in the story for quite some time while reading it.

Essentially, the whole idea of the book is on of those cliche stories that has it's own creativity and uniqueness and somehow keeps it from being too cliche and cheesy all together. I enjoyed this version of the bad boy - good girl trope.
