I really enjoyed the first half of this book but when she explained she cried more for a fictional white character than the suffering of people in the world, I couldn’t ignore it. In second half of the book, Vanessa names “God” multiple times which was confusing as she identifies as an atheist. The depth that her love for certain texts reaches, threw up some red flags of privilege and to me, off-putting.

The coziest book I’ve ever read. The  lives of a small cast within a neighborhood book shop. Though simple, there’s relatable depth to each of the characters who reflect on their disappointments, decisions, and wishes. With a bit of love and theme of the importance of reading I will be recommending this book to everyone!
