Seven Summers by Paige Toon
3.0
This was our July book club pick and I’m glad because it pushed me to read my first ever Paige toon book! Can you believe I’ve never picked one up before?!
I’ll start by saying I listened to the audiobook of this so I might not have been as invested as I would have been if I read the physical book but I wasn’t overly gripped by this. I liked the format of the book and how it was split into each summer and the present day but there was a spark missing for me.
It could have a case of right book wrong time and I’m looking forward to seeing what the book club girls thought of it next week but for me this was an okay read. I did like how the love stories were both finished off and it felt a little more realistic compared to some romance books but it was a middle of the road book for me!

Under Your Spell by Laura Wood
4.5
I picked this up last week at the romance House Party and knew I’d love it! I’d read a YA romance by Laura before and was obsessed with it so I’m not sure how I hadn’t picked this up weeks ago!
I loved the sister dynamic in this, Clemmie, Serena and Lil are such fun, vibrant characters with clear personalities they really add to the charm of the book! BUT obviously Theo was my favourite 😂 at the event Laura joked it was a Theo James fanfic and I was sold straight away.
I loved the slow burn between the Theo and Clemmie and reading their backstories! Laura Woods incredible at world building and making you really care about the characters, I was rooting for Theo the whole way through!
If you can’t tell by now, I love this one 😂 definitely recommend you add it to your summer reading list!

The Villa by Jess Ryder
3.0
I really enjoyed this! It’s twisty and pacey, which is everything I want from a thriller! I will say I wasn’t a big fan of any of the characters but I think it really worked for this book. All of the hens are flawed, and deceptive which adds different layers to the plot!
The book is written form multiple POV and a dual timeline so it’s not the sort of book you can skim through, there’s plenty of pieces to put together throughout but I didn’t manage to figure out the ending even as it was happening!
This is definitely worth a read this summer, it’s perfect for by the pool (just maybe not on a hen party!)

The Reunion by Beth Reekles
3.75
I listened to the audio for this and I think it took something away from the book but I’m not sure what. It was a fun read set during a high school reunion but i think listening to it took me out of the story. I’d still read someone by Beth Reekles again but this wasn’t my favourite
Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood
4.0
This isn’t what I was expecting from Ali Hazelwood. It’s still a nice easy read to pick up and fly through but the love story was lacking, it was definitely more spice than romcom which isn’t my bag! Not a bad book just wasn’t for me
Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister
3.75
If you love a slow burn thriller this is for you! It wasn’t my favourite by Gillian McAlister (read wrong place, wrong time!) but you can’t deny she writes a great thriller! I enjoyed piecing together the chapters and trying to figure out what had actually happened, plus for once I actually enjoyed a final page of a thriller! So definitely one to pick up for a poolside read
Off to the Races by Elsie Silver
3.5
This wasn’t my favourite by Elsie Silver but I did enjoy it! It’s a typical cowboy romance with a

Date with Destiny by Lucy Vine
4.0
I listened to the audio for this and it was great! If you’re looking for a coming of age story, mixed with a love story and plenty of hilarious one liners this is for you! I loved the characters in this - it’s full of strong women who come into their own over the course of the book!
The story itself really makes you question fate and destiny and how it all works out - I loved it! Add it to your summer reading list!

The Dating Equation by Emily Merrill
4.5
Emily Merril has done it again! As soon as this arrived I started reading it! I am a massive fan of Emily’s debut Heartbreak Houseshare and this didn’t disappoint! It’s a friends to lovers and is so lovely! I loved watching Rory and Penny realise their feelings for each other and the growth of both characters. There’s also a great cast of supporting friends and family that really make this book special! One to add to your list for sure!!
The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
5.0
I am obsessed with this book. Sometimes you find a book at exactly the right moment and that’s what happened here!
First of all, I love Sophie Cousens writing style. If you haven’t read any of her books definitely pick any up because they’re brilliant, funny and always uplifting.
But this book has a special place in my heart - it follows a 26 year old wishing her life away to get to ‘the good part’ except she wakes up the next day and it’s actually happened. Over the course of the book you watch her come to terms with her new life and everything she’s missed out on whilst getting to the supposed good bit, but will she return to her 26 year old life to experience everything for herself or is the good part worth it?
I cannot recommend this enough - it’s our book club pick for June and I can’t wait to discuss it!
