The Colorado Kid by Stephen King
I would 100% recommend that book, it’s a short but intense read you can do in one sitting but you would need some time to recover from all the informations! It will, for sure, stay on your mind.

What can I say first?
I picked up this book during a 15 hours trip and I finally read only 3 pages. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I knew I had to be wide awake to fully understand the story. I gave it another try more than 1 month after and here I am, happy I read it.
I didn’t expect the story to be what it is, the summary isn’t really giving us a real information on the book but it was still a really interesting adventure.
The story, narrated by two old newspaper men to a new newspaper lady, invited us to dig into the world of a small local newspaper and a non-solved murder (or was it?) case.
At the end, we know nothing. Or better, we know a lot of things which don’t help us to know what really happened. And in a way, that’s okay. It’s not really the end of the story that matters, but the conclusion. We can view the story as a fable.
You dive in the story as Steffi, one of the main character, does. You will feel her emotions and the emotions of the two newspaper men who tell the story and you start feeling close to those characters, almost as if they’re long time acquaintances or friends.

I would’ve loved to put a better note, really. I’m sad I didn’t like this book as much as I thought I would but here we go.
At first I really liked the writing style and the plot, it was really interesting to follow Lynnette’s thoughts and to discover the different characters from her point of view only, but then it started to be weird and I had difficulties to follow every stories of every characters. I was lost between all the names and all the stories. But that didn’t stop me from reading the book anyway. The story was still really interesting and I wanted to know the end.
At the same time I found it really interesting to have only Lynnette’s thoughts because of the atmosphere it created. I really felt her pain, her thoughts, I really tried to understand her and I really was invested in what was happening. I can’t say I always understood nor supported her and her choices but I did understand the difficulty behind every situation and choice.
I can’t relate to her nor to the other final girls as I never experienced what they experienced so I can’t even say if their reactions and decisions were legit but I think the intentions of the author were still interesting and it opened a window on the women who are final girls in real life. We need representation.
Well, what I didn’t like. The book was really long for me. It took me too much time even tho the book hasn’t that much pages. I think the whole thing with Stephanie was too long.
I do understand that maybe we needed moments with Stephanie so we could feel closer to her and so being sad she’s the villain. But it was very long.

Some passages were very long for me to read, maybe they were all important but they still didn’t caught my attention. I kept reading because I wanted to know what happens at the end (yes, I was clueless) but I was reading some scenes only to finish the book and not because I actually liked them.
And man I was so sad for Skye. I had hope for him, really. I really liked him and I felt heartbroken after the end please
I think the whole story of Chrissy was so rushed. I would’ve liked to know more about her and her story to understand her better and not seeing her being kind of a villain nobody understood.
I hated each part with Garrett P. I found them interesting and disgusting at the same time. Garrett was an awful and disgusting character and I didn’t like how he used and played with Lynnette when she still was a teenager while he was a grown up man. I found their relationship really inappropriate and kinda toxic.

I’m in love with what I just read!
Yes, some details about Sam and Dean were different from Supernatural but I guess a book based on a tv show can’t be 100% accurate and perfect and the details are really small ones so that’s okay.
What I really loved is how Dean was protecting Sam. Because yeah Dean is protecting Sam. But the author still showed that Sam himself protected Dean. I enjoyed how both brothers are protecting each other in their own way.
I think the different pov (still 3rd person pov) are useful and were well-used and well-written. I fully understood what was going on in the story thanks to that so they were important for me. In a tv show we can see what’s going on but in a book we need some descriptions to understand so it was really useful! I guess with only Sam and Dean’s pov we wouldn’t have understood everything.
The annoying point was the excessive mention of John Winchester. I mean, we can mention him and explain who he is if there’s people reading the book without watching the show but even for them I think mentioning him only one time would’ve been enough.
Otherwise I really liked the story!
I love how Bobby was introduced and how Dean’s fear of airplane was still used. I also really liked how the exorcism was written. By writing the whole exorcism we can definitely imagine how the demon reacts and when, just like when we’re watching the show (:

second book of the boys and still really enjoying it! I’m reading it very slowly but it’s just me. I take time to fully understand everything and I really like how each characters are defined by a characteristic.

only had to read it for my literature class. I didn’t like it at all, maybe because I didn’t really understand the topic and the story. I didn’t understand what the author wanted to say so it was really disturbing and I couldn’t get into the book at all. It was short but I took so long to read it.

I had to read the awakening for my English literature course but it was already enough for me. I don't want to go any further in this book. Maybe the other short stories are better but the awakening didn't give me the want to read more of Kate Chopin's work.
I didn't like the cheating plot. Edna wanted to be free but she wasn't free. She was captive of her own desire and feelings for Robert. Cheating didn't let her be more free. It's sad that the only way she had to be really free was to die.

I still can't figure out why Mary Katherine put arsenic in the sugar and it makes me wonder if I didn't understand something in the book

I think it's an interesting short story, playing on the horror but saying it's only some "mere" events, as if it can happen to everyone. It also plays on the supernatural side of the horror, which was well-used.
