Her Revenge by Jade Presley
5.0
When given the opportunity to read Her Revenge from the author, I couldn’t pass it up. Having read Her Villians not a few days prior, I was ready to jump into book 2. And just like the first book, it did not disappoint. While these characters are based on Marvel, they’ve become their own entities.
Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy world building, having mates ready to burn the world down for their queen, a splash of smutty and some sweet sweet revenge.

The Assassins by Jade Presley
5.0
While our beloved Cari is finding her way being Queen of the All Realms, this story is about her best friend, Gessi, and her growth as the Shattered Isle Queen. Plagued with the responsibility of finding the General, Gessi is accompanied by her Assassins; River, Blaize, Varian and Crane. As they all grow closer, discoveries are made, bonds are formed and secrets come to the surface. And let us not forget the spice.
Jade Presley does it again in the third installment of the Shattered Isle series. I will be honest when I realized this book was not going to revolve around Cari and her beautiful mates, I was a bit disappointed. That feeling quickly vanished after reading River and Varian bicker at each other. I very much enjoyed reading the blossoming bond between the characters and was happy to read Cari wasn’t excluded - neither were the All Planes Kings.
There was nothing about this book I did not like, nor would I change. Maybe, just maybe, I would add an additional sentence in the beginning where Jade writes: ‘If you’ve ever wanted the winter soldier to give you a hand necklace, this book is for you.’ And I would add a little sprinkle about one’s desire to feel Venom’s tongue. BUT that’s neither here nor there.
Like the first two, I recommend this book to everyone I can. Not only is the spice just right, but the plot, the story, the characters - everything else about the book draws the reader in, leaving them wanting to know more. Jade’s ability to worldbuild is impeccable. Book 4 cannot come out soon enough! A huge thank you to Jade Presley for blessing us with her creative mind.

Promises and Pomegranates by Sav R. Miller
3.0
Promises and Pomegranates is a standalone, dark contemporary romance inspired by Hades and Persephone. If you are not a reader or enjoy dark contemporary literature, this book and series may not suit you. Some triggers may include: age-gap, forced marriage, and knife/blood play. Read at your own discretion.
Elena Ricci, daughter of a Mafia Don, is to wed the son of a rival family. However, Kallum Anderson comes to the ‘rescue’ by forcing her to marry him in an effort to ‘save her family’, while also having a hidden agenda.
I have heard of Hades and Persephone but never put the effort into learning more about the myths. I cannot confirm if Promises and Pomegranates is a worthy retelling of their story, but I will say that this book was not exactly my cup of tea. While I enjoyed the growing plot, it definitely needed more building to leave the reader satisfied. This novel was hard to push through due to wanting and needing more ‘meat’ but instead got nothing but spicy scenes. Don’t get me wrong; I love spicy scenes as much as the next; however, I feel there was an unnecessary amount in this novel, in addition to being unnecessarily long and sometimes cringe-worthy with some of the dialects.
I give this book a 3/5 - and that’s being generous.
Again, please read at your own discretion if you choose to read this book and/or series.
