What a beautiful, touching story about a once in a life time chance to live in someone’s shoes (literally) and impact the people around you. I loved Mr. Frederick Fife from the very beginning and just the absurdity of having a doppelgänger was fun to read. It got so emotional throughout the rest of the story and I even found myself tearing up sometimes. He has such a big heart full of love but lost all the people closest to him, and he finally got a chance to share this love with others. Hannah’s innocence turned anger was also written very well and I felt the inner conflict she had alongside her as she worked out how she felt about everything. It wasn’t predictable nor was it boring. Definitely one of my top 2024 reads.

I ate this up!!! Oh my gosh I love a good romance with disability! Especially because I’m reading this while also watching all the Olympic couples, it feels so much warmer and fuzzier.
I appreciate the care and nuance that these disabilities were written with (ofc I expected nothing less because it’s Hannah), but I also felt like there were so many feelings and thoughts that I could relate to with my own disability.
Winni was strong and sensitive. Bo was sensitive and sexy but also nerdy (in the best way). Sarah and Caleb were really great friends and this all played together into a lovely read. I can’t wait to read Out of the Woods.

I’m so grateful I was able to receive an eARC of this book. It’s such an interesting structure of life stories and the recipes for meals that are associated with those memories. I got to learn about the benefits and drawbacks of communal living arrangements while also getting insight into Lola and having new recipes to try. Super interesting.

Another book boyfriend added to the records! I really loved how Michaela handles the topic of grief in the book and how complicated and messy it can be when we’re grieving but also angry. Layla is a strong, ambitious FMC but also had her moments of weakness, insecurity and self-doubt, and Wells is this sweet yet brooding guy who obviously cares about the people closest to him. I just hated the ending 😂 but I am excited to see how things progress in the next book.

What a beautiful collection of stories depicting human suffering and triumph. This is my first time a reading a translated book and I think the audiobook added to the impact of the stories. Even though these people are fictional, the stories are based on real people and real experiences, and I’m grateful to have gotten this mere glimpse into the lives of the Syrian refugees.
