The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

It's a 4. something. A bit slow in the beginning but I ended up finishing it in one day. I love how the book was split into eight chapters; we get to see Bod grow up and go on different adventures in each one. And the way everything came together in the end was really nice to see. Speaking about Bod, I love him! I found the antagonist to be a bit weak and I wished we were shown more of who Silas is (though his character being vague was probably intended.) I also wanted more interactions between Bod and the inhabitants of the graveyard.

But overall, I really enjoyed this book! (ending had me tearing up a bit.)

3.5 stars. I liked it enough. Certain characters I felt needed more fleshing out and the plot sometimes dragged. But I liked how it delved into fandom culture, both the good and bad. I think I've come to understand stans of celebrities more thanks to this book.

Somebody please come and pick my body up. It's located in my living room, sitting on the couch. My head hangs over the book, that is flipped open to the last page and if you look closely you can see tear stains on it that have only begun to dry.

Full review to come soon.

4.5 stars. I really liked this book! I had a great time following Elsie throughout the summer and watching her tackle family, friendships and love as a bi teenager. Even though she made some choices that I disagreed with, it was interesting to see where she- and others- ended up in because of them . The other characters were great such as Joan, Ritika, Felix and Ada (Tyler can screw himself). We find out more about Elsie's family and their complicated history which leads to some painful discoveries but also room for hope as well.

The ending was so heartwarming!

If you're looking for a queer, coming of age novel I highly recommend this!

It was giving Wattpad (but like the much better side of it). I liked the first half of this book a bit more than the later half, which had some parts that dragged for me. The two main characters, Anastasia and Nathan, were likable and I enjoyed their relationship. Though I wish the rivalry between them lasted a bit longer (I love me some tension
