some of the essays were inaccessible and contained references and no source so they were challenging to read. and others were so interesting and surprising . this book is now very well pen marked.

a lot of the chemistry and physics made my eyes glaze over reading it but as a childhood lover is space this is everything and more. ice heard a lot about the accuracy of the science but as a casual space fan i didn't really care i wanted plot and i was worried it would be a physics paper but the writing is SO good.

this guy really is quirky. people say the middle is a drag but the end was so comical and tonally disconnected from the rest of the story. i enjoyed it but differently from the rest of the story.
"You keep saying that...And it keeps not happening, as we can all see!" in response to Satan rising again. and "The embodiment of thirty itself" when describing Armand.

i don't believe in perfect books but this is up there. there's so much to be said about crazy people writing about crazy people that makes other crazy people really feel seen. to pack so much humor and truth into a book makes me want to know everything that was left on the floor.

I enjoyed this book more than expected, and I'm going to read the next which is also unexpected. some bits in the middle dragged and some of the language was boringly dense. but over all i enjoyed the drama of this gay old vampires.

book Louis is such a huge fucking creepy but by projecting show Louis onto him he becomes tolerable enough to enjoy. basically just scratch out all the weird shit he says about Claudia and the bountiful racism and he's pretty tolerable. which is to say not at all.

I liked so much about this and hated so much as well. Addie and Luc are textbook abuse and the fact that she "ends" up w him kinda makes my skin crawl. like "giving" Henry to Addie as a gift or a game or whatever is super toxic. Henry and Addies relationship is kinda flat since she can't really be shared their relationship is too insular and that can also be kinda toxic (and also that was a problem w Henry's relationship w Tabitha) some of the writing felt too much like a scene directed in a movie and those scenes jump out so clearly that it's very noticeable and stumbles the pace a little bit there's a good bit of tension but not real good pay off for it. and the "everyone gets a happy ending" ending is kinda boring for a book that was about not getting a real ending.

so near perfect and different from what I anticipated!!! more chilling than I thought a classic vampire novel could be with dry humor in shocking amounts. my goth heart will be returning to this book and these quotes for a long time

the great Sarah dessen reread comes to an end. I love how different this book is from the rest and how frustrating it is but real. emmaline goes thru the regression growth cycle so differently than other Sarah dessen books and for different reasons. the regression is the relationship and the growth isn't flash in the pan it's gradual, like real growth. it wasn't her ability to communicate that caused problems it was the men in her life who refused to listen that were the problem. that's so men.
Luke is boring and kinda shitty. theo SUCKS big time. he's TWENTY ONE dating an 18 year old. making plans to move to her town. he's a creep. Emmaline's dad is a tool. her family seems to encroach on her time and space with abandon and complain when she's not there to be taken advantage of.
I always love in Sarah dessen novels how half siblings and step sibling relationships are always brought to the front and made so important.
I like that the romance I ended up caring the most about was daisy and Morris. they both had so much independence from each other that the few scenes they're together or talking about each other had me kicking my feet and blushing.

the great Sarah dessen reread continues. not my favorite but I thinks that's bc I don't connect with the sports angle, Dave is kinda forgettable and I hate a Jason redemption. fuck Jason. fuck mcleans mom too she sucks her dad sucks too but mostly her mom. that whole fake "you can talk to us we love you" shit at the motel pissed me off. McLean said. loudly. clearly. SERVERAL TIMES. how she felt about her parents divorce and her life splitting in two and she refused to listen fuck her she deserves her creepy loveless cheatery marriage. also kinda weird that thisbe and Auden's relationship was such a for front in a long for the ride and the importance of half siblings and new families but Madison and Connor never really develop a relationship w McLean.
