Comprehensive and awesome!

This is a long, intricate history that kinda reads like an adventure story. Even though I'm familiar with the subject matter, Hernández added loads of details that were new to me, and she expertly described changes in Mexico, the U.S. and overlapping social movements over time. When specific historical details have been lost + can't be verified, Hernández identifies the gaps!

Bad Mexicans reminded me of the friction and complexity that comes with any revolution. Absolutely loved it.

Warning: Don't listen to the audiobook. The narrator absolutely butchers this beautiful content. It's really bad. Like 13.5 hours of nails scraping a chalkboard, but worse.

This is a book about the climate crisis. It’s accessible, quick, and the format is varied from chapter to chapter.

And yes, it’s got tangible recommendations for how we can each throw our weight on the side of human survival. Highly recommend.

Tip: If, while reading it, you get annoyed by the format of one chapter, I recommend skimming or skipping to the next. It’ll be okay! Overall I think the short varied chapters are a strength, not a defect. They allows different readers to absorb information in their preferred ways— philosophical prose, personal anecdotes, straight statistics, or whatever.
