I would say the twist of this book came way too late. There was a lot of buildup to nowhere and then all of a sudden we find out what’s going on in the last two chapters.

The chapters were incredibly long. They could do with being cut shorter.  Also, the plot was incredibly confusing.

The conclusion of the book fell rather quickly.   I was hoping that there would be a bigger twist.  I also hoped for connection between characters - as though one storyline coincided with another.  But it was just a series of unconnected plots that led to a finale.   The main plot was not that exciting.

I hadn’t realized it until the last chapters, but this is just the gay men version of “Overboard.”  I had seen both the original and remake, and those were funny - and knowing that makes this book cute too.   I will say both main characters getting into a relationship still didn’t really make any sense and it felt kind of forced to fit that narrative.   At the end, ended up being a sweet book but not my favorite.

It’s literally Harry Potter - but with a slight gay twist that doesn’t make sense.  If you’ve never read or watched Harry Potter - you’d probably be confused at the plot points thrown in here. This book feels like knowing Harry Potter is a prerequisite.   Also a lot of the plot doesn’t really make sense - as far as who is the antagonist.

The twists of this book make it enjoyable! You think you could predict where this is going, but as you reach the end, there are too many shocks.  Vernon does an amazing job telling a relatable or could-be-true story!

The plot development was fast and weak.  As soon as the plot thickened - it disappeared. The ending seems a bit rushed and unfinished as well.

This book was a fun read and felt like a spin-off of “The Good Place,” if it focused on another character who lived in the town.
