I really liked this book and although it didn’t hold my attention the entire time, it was a lovely read. It reminds me that even though things may be lost, an effect from them remains. They still leave an imprint. I do feel a little lost as to what the rest of the book is trying to say though.

I like that as the book draws to a close, there is less detail written about the outside world as the people in the story lose their own details, their own memories. I like how awareness is one of the things that never left her, even as she lost her memories and the holes grew larger, she still was aware of this occurring. Even though she was unable to be aware of the things that had left, she is still aware of the loss even though she describes how the people easily moved on. There’s still that difference between full and full of holes.

I also like how the characters aren’t given names the closest thing to a name is R.

I was expecting the book to go more in depth of the memory police and the “why” of the memory police, but it didn’t. I guess that the fact that it didn’t is telling of the helplessness and eventual acceptance of the situation.

oh my godddd the biologist is such an enneagram 5 it’s unreal. it was fascinating to read through her thought processes and i loved how, in comparison to the movie, they are stripped of their identities in this.

i did find that the book dragged a bit in some parts though.

Holy fucking shit dude. This book was so incredible I have a desperate urge to read it over and over again and commit it to memory. I love this book so much, the characters, the themes, the inclusion of buddhism and quantum physics, and
the openness of the ending that is both unsettling and calming. It leaves you feeling like a fish who has been hooked, but doesn’t end up minding the state they’ve entered as it provides them a new perspective on life…or something like that
. God I really loved this book and it’s interesting to think back on possibilities of life where I didn’t pick this book up. It’s very likely as I’d never seen this before and by chance came across it in the library, picking it because of the synopsis and the cover (I will always end up judging books by their cover…oops).  Anyways, this book is genuinely so incredible and I adore buddhism.

God this book was so good!! I enjoyed it thoroughly and I got really attached to the characters and I missed having that feeling of attachment. I enjoyed watching Seth grow as time went on.

I like how the idea of the book, there being more to life, extended beyond the science fiction premise and went into a psychological interpretation. It made watching the character’s journeys even more enjoyable.
