Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
4.5
I really love the characters and how each feels fleshed out and like their own person. Inej and Kaz’s battle with powerlessness, Jesper’s with insecurity and control. Everyone. Those three are my favorites. I love how it’s about people finding their way through the world, finding something out of nothing, especially in the people around them. I love that Kaz’s disability is based on Leigh Bardugo’s and how he is this powerful figure and it’s still
something he struggles with.
The magic system didn’t feel fleshed out here and I’m sure I’ll have to go to shadow and bone to really see it developed.

i love the care taken into portraying disability and how
community and genuine care and effort helps make the world a more caring and accommodating place i love it soooo so much. i love the part about how while you may not have the power to change the whole world, you can make the area around the people you love a safe one and i ugh just love it.i also love that we’re getting to see more conflicts people have with the system set up and how it does leave people behind. it is flawed and the brimmed caps take advantage of that. it reminds me of hobie’s tagline in the spiderpunk comic “with great power there is no
future” as in absolute power corrupts. i love the moment about facing your problems head on because there’s always ways to adapt and possibilities to help them. thinking outside the box. i love love this manga so much.
