had a lot of fun reading this book idk if it's bcos im queer or catholic LMAO im not always a fan of first person pov but gilda's voice is so well done!!!
always feel a little awko taco rating + review memoirs but i rly enjoyed this book !! i breezed through this and found that there were so many parts where i wld pause my audiobook to write down quotes and passages that stuck w me <3 yeah
going into these books i know i am very much NOT the target audience and that's fine i can suspend my disbelief but this book. oh it was so evident. i wanted to like this book and for the most part it was okay yk francesca and michael were so fun even tho the beginning was kinda boring but i HATED michael trying to seduce francesca into having sex w him so she wld feel duty bound to marry him??????? and then getting upset w her after they had sex when she wouldn't marry him?? like BRO. you really don't have to do all of this just tell her you love her. uhggyfhugigbhjibk. also i hate a fertility plot line like this rly is not for me😭 hope they make francesca gay in the show tho. they won't but they cld.
reading this after recently finishing pet was very interesting lol but regardless of the genre i rly do like the way emezi writes!! wish there was more on joy bcos i rly liked her + her relationship with feyi i liked feyi and alim as individuals but idk how i felt abt them together? i didn't hate it yk they were cute i quite enjoy stories about second chance romance and the growth that comes in order to or as a result of falling in love and learning to be vulnerable and opening yourself up to even the possibility of love after so much grief!!!! but. that was nasir's dad😭😭 but i also did not like nasir enough to care abt him like that so lol
idk if i will give this a rating bcos i do feel a little awkward sometimes rating nonfiction – especially memoirs – but i quite enjoyed this <3 i also listened to the audiobook as i read and it was very nice to have carrie fisher reading the book !! some parts were rly sad and other parts made me laugh and tear up might rewatch the originals / tfa after this
loved this book!! didn't know that much about it going into it other than the triggers so i had an idea of what the monster would be, but it was very fast paced and well written! favourite part of the book was the relationship between jam and redemption <3 wish there was a little bit more insights on lucille and the worldbuilding but the story still worked well regardless + i've added bitter to my tbr and hope that will answer some of the questions i have abt the history and revolution !
