Having seen the movie before reading the book, I was prepared for the events that unfolded. The story starts off slow but gets very intense. This is not a happy story nor does it have a happy ending. I was amazed at the author's ability to have the reader empathize w/ both sides. I did find the ending in the movie way more powerful but the book was definitely more explantory and informative, obviously. I recommend both the book and the movie.

I really like Christopher Moore's book for the laughter. They are just downright funny. If you read this book, make sure you read the sequel - You Suck, A Love Story. I actually read that one first, not knowing about Fiends.
