the concept is absolutely A+. every ninety years, twelve gods reincarnate - into the existing bodies of teenagers. they get to be popstars, love and adored for two years, and then they are dead.

that cliffhanger was so mean!! i want to see more, especially the 12-year-old kid tbh

it's very queer, and a bit more sexual than i expected

Super cute and colorful!! I loved the little updates to modernize it. Anne's drawings are so good, and she's in a zine club?? Adorable. I want a physical copy so badly.

Favorite parts:
* The different designs of the various gods
* Hades's dogs
* Eros and Aphrodite's complicated relationship

Artistically I love the rape scene. It's not explicit but it's gut-wrenching, and the way it's presented visually is just so good.

Very creepy little story. It's written as a notebook, which leaves some gaps in the story, and gives it an interesting writing style. I was even more tense during the whole thing because there's a kid in it, and obviously you worry about the kid. Very tense, and not a really conventional ghost story.

A story of monsters, blood, and love. I've read the short story before, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the graphic novel, especially Geralt's design and the blue roses. This is also one of those stories that shows my favorite Geralt trait: he might be a monster hunter, but his definition of monster is not based on appearances.

I received an ARC through NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Motheater is an Appalachian witch out of time, stuck between her community and nature. Can we survive without taking from nature? How much is too much? Where is the balance? And whose side should she take?

A story told in two timelines, in present time and a hundred and fifty years into the past, with a cast of queer characters. The romance itself is pretty slowburn, and I wouldn't really call this a romance book, but the love is still very much important to the endgame. Romantic love, friendship love, love for community, love for nature, and all of that.

The present-time POV character is a Black woman who is investigating mysterious mining deaths on the mountain. I loved that Bennie and Zach are exes who are both bisexual - good for them.

Only four stars because I couldn't immerse myself fully, the Bible verses and Appalachian accents/slangs was pretty far from my experience. Somebody who is closer to the culture might enjoy this more, for me the Bible verses are an automatic turn-off. Still, I enjoyed the rest of the book.

It took this series two books to make me cry. Thanks, I guess.

First half was so good, I was LIVING. Free dragon militia fuck yeah.

Ending also wasn't bad, but it really takes you into the ugly side of war, and also the ones in command suck. Laurence and Temeraire are gonna go around the whole world at this rate, but at least they still have some friends with them.

We venture to Africa again in this book, dealing a lot with slavery and African native tribes. Jane is awesome. Riley sucks. The ending is tragic but it had to be done.
