I got 100 pages in and could not bring myself to finish...I had high hopes for this story as it seemed unique. But the mixed reviews were right, it didn't quite grip me in the way that I hoped it might. I skipped through a couple of chapters hoping to find something that would catch my attention and get me to read it entirely, but I could not.

They say if you can't divide a room though you're doing something wrong so.....

I decided to DNF this book after 20/30 pages. The overly flowery style of writing is not for me. The concept of the story sounds great and I have heard good things about it, so I am sure other readers will as well. Personally, it was not my cup of tea.

What a beautiful grim dark tale. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting of this book, but it was not what I read. I loved it! I rarely give books 5 stars and this one deserves every single one and more. Reid has an amazing way with words and descriptions. I found myself lost in the world she had spun and eager for more.

I absolutely loved this book. Long's writing is cinematic! The way she writes is simple yet vivid. I could see everything as it happened clear as day. Hessa's story is one I didn't know I had been longing for but so happy that I stumbled on. I started the second book the same day I finished the first.
