Old Soul by Susan Barker

4.5

In retrospect, the fear that gripped me at the end of Susan Blake’s, “Old Soul,” should not have been unexpected.  With comparisons to Elizabeth Kostova’s epic novel, “The Historian,” I was destined to be enthralled and excitedly scared. I was. I am.  You will be too.  It’s a thrilling story I highly recommend.

A true 5 ⭐️ read. Perhaps, I wonder what Shirley Jackson would do with a haunted house off somewhere like Tuscany.  Wonder no more, as Jennifer Marie Thorn takes the mere notion of the ordinary haunted house and redefines what it means to be truly terrified.  As I read, I found myself less afraid of the evil and more concerned with the way the main characters justify it all.

Oh yeah, and Tuscany as a backdrop for this story, works.

Read. This. Book.
