Shark: Why We Need to Save the World's Most Misunderstood Predator by Paul de Gelder
4.0
This is a wonderful book for shark lovers, it is both a plea for greater environmental protections and a memoir of how choosing to learn more about, and come to love sharks, enriched Gelder's life. The writing is engaging and often humorous, and while it recapped some shark information many readers may already know, it never felt dull or like a lecture. Highly recommended to those looking to learn more about sharks.
Compassionate Leadership: How to Do Hard Things in a Human Way by Jacqueline Carter, Rasmus Hougaard
informative
4.0
Compassionate Leadership simplifies the intersection of kindness and responsibility, and offers useful advice that extends through multiple levels and types of leadership. I chose to read this book for a college book review paper, and thankfully it was engaging and straightforward enough to take copious notes on and develop a connect to the material. However, there were sections that felt overly lengthy, as the ideas they expressed were not significantly complex. Regardless, I think this is a book worth reading for both budding and experienced leaders. The ideas it proposes are not just opinions, they have documented successes in hundreds of organizations and are backed by years of research.
