The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I would like to preface this review by saying I am a Nerdfighter and long time subscriber of John Green on YouTube.
I am, however, a first time John Green reader. This book took me on such a lovely journey and it was so refreshing to read about teenagers who are intelligent and thoughtful. A teenage love story which doesn't involve a vampire or werewolf (although I love those too). This is a beautiful work and I look forward to reading his others.

Ultimate snooze fest. I just couldn't get into this book and it took me a while to finally finish. Think I need a break from Bond for now, hopefully 'From Russia With Love' will give me a fresh start.

I know that I've seen the movie adaptation of 'Moonraker' but for the life of me I couldn't visualise it at all when I was readinG the third instalment in Fleming's series. However, it is my favourite so far. The main reason being the villain wasn't boring as batshit and the heroine/ Bond girl could actually hold her own. Hugo Drax and Gala Brand are amazing characters, described in great and loving detail by Fleming and I wish they were in more of the books.

Live and Let Die is not a Bond film I am overly familiar with, having only watched it a couple of times. Whilst is was different to Casino Royale in which I didn't have a perfect frame reference I didn't enjoy this book as much. I found some chapters dragged on and although this is book 2 in the series I didn't feel any sort of continuity except for the use of CIA agent Felix Leiter. It was interesting to see Quarrel from Dr. No in this book though. However, the racism (obviously indicative of the time) can be a bit uncomfortable to read. I hope the next book is a bit more interesting.

My first foray into the Fleming books which inspired the iconic films and I really enjoyed it. After seeing the Daniel Craig 'Casino Royale' I feel he plays Bond the closest to how Fleming wrote him. However, I will always see Sean Connery as James Bond. I can't wait to read the rest of these books!
