The Words In My Hand by Guinevere Glasfurd
5.0
This book. THIS book!
This is vivid, engaging and beautifully written historical fiction which tells the story of the love affair between Helena and Rene Descartes. Whilst their relationship is known to history it is very scant in details. Guinevere Glasfurd has completely opened this world up and explored their romance in an amazing narrative.
Much like GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING, this is the story of the woman behind the famous man. However, you will completely fall in love with Helena and her struggles as a maid in 17th century Amsterdam. She is a wonderful protagonist who continually strives to better herself and learn all she can.
The ending is heartbreaking but I was grateful to have lived in the world of these characters, if only for a moment.
Highly recommend and one of my top picks for 2016!

Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny by Holly Madison
4.0
This would be my guilty pleasure read for the year. I was a fan of Holly after watching her in The Girls Next Door and The House Bunny and I can definitely relate to her love of Disney. This was a thoroughly enjoyable and easy read. Her writing style is conversational and you really empathise with her story and horrible time in the Playboy Mansion.
I'm so glad she got the happy ending she had been craving.
This was a pleasure to read. I can see why it's been topping the iBooks charts.
