absolutely one of the best books i have ever read. incredible storytelling and prose and beautiful full characters. stunning and heartbreaking and so healing
Graphic: Addiction, Child abuse, Domestic abuse, Drug abuse, Emotional abuse, Homophobia, Incest, Pedophilia, Physical abuse, Rape, Sexual violence, Forced institutionalization, Religious bigotry, and Medical trauma
definitely not a perfect serious by any means, and a little silly sometimes, but a very beautiful story about reclaiming the land and living with grief. i wish we got to see more moments of rebuilding and what newfound freedom looked like, but still a nice hopeful ending albeit a bitter sweet one
really great toolkit and very well written, but was definitely lacking in some places. wanted to see more conversations about indigenous, queer, and disabled perspectives. as well as more global representation
