First of all, this author knows how to cause emotional damage! Lol. Please read with care, or if you’re into authors that don’t care about you, add to cart NOW! The descriptions and scenery he writes in this is absolutely amazing! I could hear the car rides, I could feel the fear, I could smell the cigarettes, I could feel my gut telling ME not to trust people AND I’M NOT EVEN THERE! The way this story had me on the edge of my seat was crazy!! I will absolutely recommend this to anyone who is into science fiction, thrillers, suspense, and or paranormal reads for sure! For this to be this author’s debut, they knocked this right out of the park! Cannot wait to see what else this author sends out way! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Omg the way I gave myself a 3 day limit to read this, but ended up reading it in one night is CRAZY!!! Granted, it’s only about 300 pages, but I did not think this book was going to have me in the hold that it did! I will say that at one point I almost threw my reading device across the room at 3AM but that’s neither here nor there right now lol. I need book 2 out like LAST NIGHT!! I need answers, I need vengeance, I need someone to talk to about this book with! Lol. I don’t know what else to say really without giving too much away other than make sure to read until the end! Can’t wait for book 2; it’s going to be crazy I just know it! I received an advance copy to review and I am leaving this review voluntarily!

VERY dark read for sure! Will definitely test your limits and boundaries in regards to spicy reads! However, over all, the book was actually very well written and easy to follow. Very few grammatical errors, if any. All spicy scenes were actually needed given the plot of the story and while some were far more…gruesome/spicy (depends on your perspective), they never took away from the story or felt out of place for its pace. Definitely would recommend this author! But do be cautious: this is NOT A BOOK FOR BEGINNERS TO DARK ROMANCE! This is like level 10 spice, ease your way into these sort of things because she jumps RIGHT in on chapter 1!

Amber does it again with this one! The amount of my notes that are strictly things that literally made me laugh out loud is crazy! Ever read a book so good that you genuinely wanted to dive into their world among the character cast? Yeah, this series is that for me! With Heirs of Darkness, we get a detailed look into the past of Ciaran and Kes. We learn about their individual lives growing up as well as how their relationship with one another has come to be what we know and love in book 1: Prince of Darkness. While not all questions from book 1 are answered, some very heavy ones are (I won’t spoil though, you’ll have to read to find out!). The map included in this was also EXTREMELY exciting to see, as more areas were made available to see given their relationship with the story. Do read with care though, as some aspects of this story may be triggering for some. Overall though, definitely a 10/10 read and cannot wait for book 2: Queen of Light to release in 2024!

Not gonna lie, I’ve never read any of her other books, so this was my first introduction to Holly Black and her writing capabilities and let me tell you….I see the hype! Wonderfully written and with enough mystery and edge-of-my-seat tension to make me start stress eating 1/4 of the way through, I can honestly say I was NOT disappointed with this book. I’ve never read ACOTAR or any of CoHo’s books so for me, this is MY OG shadow daddy….literally lol.

This is one of those books just waiting for a producer’s kid to have to read in school and all of a sudden it’s in movie theaters everywhere bringing in billions and everyone’s obsessed with it and it ends up being some sort of trilogy or Netflix finds it and ends up being a like 3-4 season long show that’s all over TikTok and Instagram and everyone suddenly forgets what The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Maze Runner were all about. This genuinely does not get the attention it most definitely deserves and it’s so frustrating! The plot is CRAZY trippy, the characters felt like family (even the annoying and distrustful ones!), and the suspense had me trying to run faster, lie better, and survive longer…AND I WASN’T EVEN THERE! I really hope this takes off in 2024 for this author because she’s created such an incredible gem with this piece and I CANNOT wait for book 2 to drop!

First and foremost: do not read if you cannot handle authors who cause emotional damage! Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it! The only con I have for this book is that I received it as an advance copy, so I cannot load my notes and highlights with my review which are absolutely HILARIOUS btw! That, and the fact that the ONE character I was REALLY hoping would touch grass just you know…kept breathing! Other than that though, it was absolutely amazing! The dystopian world was described amazingly! And if Netflix, Hulu, or a movie producer gets a hold of this, it’s a wrap! Lol. This does end on a cliffhanger though so read at your own pace!
