I was immediately a lot more drawn into this book than the first one. With the introduction of new characters, it also helped to develop and further the storyline and world building.

This book has a good storyline foundation with the main theme of the re establishment, but the additional romance on top was done very well too without being overpowering.

Warners character development has been really interesting to see. It’s easy to forget that they’re all quite young 17-20 years old and so the way Juliette thinks about things might not seem right. But you have to identify the wider factors I.e, their age, backgrounds etc

Overall, it was a lot more interesting than the first book and I couldn’t put it down!

The storyline was very interesting, but it felt as though the writing wasn’t strong enough to capture it correctly.

There are a lot of different things going on which aren’t clear until the very end of the book even though one of them is a big theme/ background of the book.

It definitely got better towards the end, especially with the romance and characters being introduced. However, for over the first half I was bored and had to force myself to keep reading.

I’m moving on to the second book in the series as I did enjoy the ending and I have hope that the writing gets better (as there’s so many books in this series!)

This book started off with really great potential. I love the story line despite it not being something I’d usually read. However, it felt as though there was a big lead up to the climax of the book and yet it was right at the very end. It felt like it had been brushed over very quickly and I finished the book disappointed because as I said it had really great potential. I just don’t believe the end of it was executed very well.

Despite this, the story itself was unique and did hold my attention. It was also a quick and easy read and I enjoyed it for the most part! However, I am used to reading very big fantasy books and so the climax in those books are extremely detailed and can go on for chapters. If you’re not used to that or aren’t a fan of that then you will enjoy this book!
