This is a murder mystery about robots/androids in a post-war setting complete with PTSD and there are murders. There is also a character with childhood trauma and abandonment issues

I would say this is a pretty strong start. I like the tone. It kind of reminds me of the beginning parts of Dragonball, feels like a bit of a throwback

The main character is in a kind of self destructive and depressed state for parts of this volume. Even when things look up he has trouble enjoying life fully. If that feels like something you can’t get into, stay away. He also does engage a bit in what some might call “incel” behavior. He just can’t fully let go of relationships from the past. He keeps thinking about all of them regardless of whether they have bearing on his present day life or not.

This volume is a tough one. PunPun is coming of age, starts his pubescent years with a pretty messed up start. His Uncle’s story has some crazy developments but seemingly comes to a positive. PunPun’s Mother’s storyline is kind of heartbreaking. I call it a tough one but the manner that the story is told continues to be addictively readable so I feel solid about the high rating.

A large part of this volume is about an inappropriate relationship dynamic that the uncle undertakes while he was a pottery class instructor. Keep that in mind

Love this series, the appropriateness of the content is fairly light but the main character is targeted by the villain group thus at times bringing others into risky situations

This is a magic world coming of age, also the protagonist is targeted by the shadowy, suspicious enemy group so the levels of darkness vary volume to volume

This is quite good, it’s characterized through the view of the title character who is a small child so he doesn’t quite fully comprehend the severity of the things going on around him. It’s fascinating and kind of heartbreaking. I wonder where it will go in the other 6 volumes.

I really liked this volume, keep in mind there’s some incredibly gratuitous nudity in the second arc that has its start in this volume, but the story in that one is being used to push two of our mains together.

It’s very intense but through reading this first volume with the art and storytelling I see why it’s considered a masterpiece of the medium of Manga.
