just a heads up: this book is a gothic horror, so it’s not so much overtly scary as it is dark and introspective. regardless, it was good, though not a new favorite like i’d hoped.

overall, a good read with a creepy atmosphere. i liked part of the twist, but didn’t like the answer of who the killer was. the romance could’ve been developed a bit better. also kept forgetting this takes place in england. but still, a well-written story

physically beautiful book, absolutely stunning cover. i didn’t like the characters though, and found i didn’t care what happened to them. also way too much info dumping

“she who became the sun” and she did! this book was so good and i can’t believe it took me this long to finally read it. zhu is such a compelling character, in a novel full of compelling characters. i can’t wait to see how things play out in the sequel!

well, i did it. i finally finished this series. was it a good ending? sure. did i like it as much as i remember liking the rest of the series (especially reaper)? no. but that’s probably because i waited too long to read it. some of the characters’ decisions genuinely pissed me off, though, so maybe i always would’ve had some issues with it. anyway, overall it was good and i’m glad to have finally read it.

ashley herring blake knocked it out of the park once again! i love iris and stevie and the way ahb used the fake dating trope to explore their relationship. i will read any rom-com this woman writes.
