Not gonna lie, it took me about 200 pages to really get into this book. And even then I read them and let the book set for about a month. But then I finished the final 400 in two days. So glad I already have the sequel so I can keep going!

"You're not a bonus...you're integral" ugh my heart. If you can look past a slightly unbelievable premise, you get a great romance between imperfect people. If you liked Red White and Royal Blue would definitely recommend!

In my best Stefan voice, this book has everything: drag queens, the city as a character, found family. It even has a Jane Su, you know that thing where a butch lesbian time travels from the 70s and gets stuck on a subway train. I laughed, cried, and fell in love with all the characters. Highly, highly recommend!

This book is so beautifully written, it was a joy to read. My actual rating is more like 4.5 stars but only because this book had been built up so much it seemed impossible for it to truly meet those sky high expectations

Do you ever just read the right book at the exact right time? That was Honey Girl for me. I picked it up thinking it was going to be a cute romcom type book, a palette cleanser. I ended up reading it in one sitting and basically quietly crying the entire second half. The descriptions of not knowing what comes next and the weight of expectations felt like they were ripped from my head. Probably my best read of 2021 so far.
