One More Wish by Lindsey Lanza
Micro Tropes
🐶 cares for her when sick
🐶 “Yes, Chef”
Poppy (daughter) ads a nice touch of heart and humour at times. Love that she just has no filter and an alternative view of the world.
Continue to love Ellie & Maya’s friendship, always wish we saw more of them together.
This stories also deals with some other more series issues that hit close to home. Won’t spoil the story but did have me teary at a few points.
🦔This is book 2 in the Sugar Valley series. Whilst this can be read as a standalone, I’d encourage you to read A Little Magic first. Plus, you don’t want to miss reading about Ellie & Theo’s love story.

Fell in love with these characters so easily and didn’t want it to end. Was an absolute bonus to get to see Ellie & Theo’s story continue in this one, even though it did make me teary at times.
“Maybe that’s why she’s cursed! Because she was looking for a prince but what she really needed was a daddy”
Found this story so swoony and the way Liam cares not only for his daughter by Maya is the sweetest. The thoughtfulness he puts into even just a simple meal is perfect. And love his honesty (so we steer well clear of the miscommunication trope).
“I can stay out of the way, or-“
“Done be silly, Maya. I love to feed you”

“Ellie and I learned from two very wise women that after a really tough day, the best thing to do is dance it out”

“Girlfriend, Princess, lady of the house. We can call you wherever you want, Maya, as long as I can call you mine”
Writing and story telling reminds me of Jimenez at her best.
“If you’re a good girl and follow my instructions, I’ll let you touch the crème brûlée later”

Thanks to the author for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Mothers by Sarah J. Naughton
I was able to pick some of the reveals based off the clues early on but still found myself surprised by some revelations and motivations of the characters.
There is one in particular that seems to do things in support of someone yet other actions prove otherwise.
As messed up as most of their lives are, there are aspects of adulthood and motherhood that are relatable.
Not keen on the fact that one characters motivation to arguably due unethical and criminal acts, all because of infertility. Obviously there is more going on with her mentally but it was a major driving force for her actions.

The story was engaging from the outset and wanting to know the truth just had me wanting to get to the end.
It will have you not trusting anyone or even the narrators.
Even though their are reasons for The Mothers antagonism for one another, they still don’t necessarily act like friends, either friends like that, who needs enemies.

“Doesn’t seem to like her friends much, does she?’”
Reminds me of a more intense version of The Letdown and Working Mums’
Many of the men in this story are difficult to read yet a lot of the lives of the mothers seem very real.

“Bella just needed someone to tell her what to do. Electra had some sympathy for this. Being a grown-up was no fun”
“how could this frumpy, middle-aged woman have created such a robust child when she, ten years younger and kickboxing-fit, could not?”

Consider Me by Becka Mack
Proposing at someone else’s wedding, even with their persuasion is super odd to me. I’d feel so squared awkward taking the spotlight away from them on their day. And doing it after a week of their relationship being up in the air, not the most secure foundation for a marriage.

Have been meaning to try this one for some time and ended up listening to the audiobook. It took me over two weeks to finish…and I really should have not continued but I’d used a credit and didn’t want to waste it.
There wasn’t anything overly horrible about the store. Just found it really difficult to get into the story and love the characters.
To me it felt like not much happened and the conflict really revolved around miscommunication. I’ve heard other books in the series are better, but this was not one I’d recommend.
Was cute that he loves Disney movies and was nervous when they went on their movie date.
The ending is also feels rushed and full of cliches.

The Other Brother by Tierney Page
Swooned over their initial flirting and banter.
However, once they got together the plot sort of faded away and we were just left with spice interspersed with spice scenes. Felt the story felt a little choppy as there were a number of random time jumps.
Was alright and will try the second book. Beyond the initial slow burn, it felt a little light on plot.

“Just you wait,” I tell her. “Some lucky prick is going to find you and have enough sense to not let you go. Can you imagine being loved the way you love?”
|Thoughts|
Was a little unsure how the beginning of this relationship would occur but it was clear early on that her fiancé is a class A douche. As much as their relationship is a ‘forbidden’ one, it was easy to get past considering the relationship between her ex and his brother.
“ I come to two conclusions: Number one: I’m undoubtedly attracted to April. Number two: I can’t have her”
Swooned over their initial flirting and banter.

“James: To clarify, I didn’t want to leave“

Then spending time together on the balcony was just so cute and loved to see Seth meet Charlotte where she was comfortable.
The little side relationship with their friends also had me invested.
The ending was a perfect way to tie it all together. And included some cute puns and shocked yet appreciative of Seth’s story regarding the western sycamore tree.

It just seems that I seemingly fall in love with ABBEY Jimenez’s worlds. This was a sweet yet confronting story. Love the whole set of them being stuck in their homes as the stairs have been removed. But it also death with more series issues with Charlottes stalker.
“I never felt safe. I never slept well. This one sick, twisted human had changed every aspect of my life. Sometimes it felt like he had already killed me. A part of me.”

Deep End by Ali Hazelwood
Enjoyed the College setting and their lives as professional athletics. Their chemistry was great but think I just wanted a little more from their relationship early on, rather than the long stretches between interactions.
But when they were together 🔥, I loved it.
Felt like my enjoyment was dampened by my investing regarding a certain characters intentions.
Was also nice to have some cameos from Olive & Adam (The Love Hypothesis).

“If you give a single dad a neighbor, he may be tempted to ask her to be his daughter’s nanny. And if he asks her to be his daughter’s nanny, he’ll start to have feelings for her. He’ll want to invite her over for dinner and take care of her when she’s sick, and then he’ll kiss her in the hallway and call her a “good girl” in the back of an art gallery because she’s all he’s been able to think about…”
|Thoughts|
Dylan is a grump in all the right ways. He is so protective of his daughter yet it was such a pleasure she see Marlow break down his walls with her free spirit.
“That’s a damn shame.” Dylan brushes his thumb across my cheek. “You should be reminded every day of how exceptional you are.”
Liked how they balanced each other out and the thoughtful things they did for each other.
“It’s not natural for a person to be so damn happy all the time.”
Also loved the relationship between Marlow and Lola (Dylan’s daughter).
“I need to remember she’s my daughter’s nanny, ten years my junior, and that her sunny disposition annoys me. At least it used to”

If You Give a Billionaire a Bride by Ann Einerson
Love this little flashbacks to their childhood together. And once again, his family dynamic added a nice additional layer to the story.
Also that Evelyn’s able to enable Cash to not be conscious of his scar.
This was cute and whilst it leant more of the characters than the plot, I plan to continue with the series.

I’m always here for a forced proximity romance and especially a brothers best friend romance. However, felt like the latter didn’t really play a prominent role in this story. Enjoyed it all the same.
