Think Like a Monk: Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Everyday by Jay Shetty
1.0
I almost didn't finish this book. It started well, but after couple pages I noticed something interesting. Mr. Shetty LOVES saying "the researches found that..." and then gives and example from his own life confirming the theses. No source. No closer look into the results. It happened to him so it must be truth. I call it confirmation bias but hey what do I know.
Another thing that bothered me, big time, was his superficial stories about people. Like. Some of them made me think he never met or talk to another human being. Life is more than just big concepts and ideas. Not every person is the same, not every job interview looks the same, not every marriage looks the same. Like come on! If you think about stereotypes, the author loves to confirm their existence. Worry no more. Probably you're just so special you can't relate. At least, it is was I was telling myself since I could not relate not ANYTHING. I guess I am yet to be so fortunate in every aspect of my life.
By any means: if you found this book helpful to you, I envy you. Honestly. I wish I had epiphany reading it, I wish it would be not complete waste of my time and I'd end it inspire like a mouse seeing cheese of life. It didn't happen for me. But it doesn't mean you less of a person because I did not like this book.
The only reason I finished it, was the audiobook. And meditation. I appreciate him explaining this in such a great detail to the bigger population. That'd be all tho. For that reason it's a star not a DNF.
