The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren

We chose this book for Sunday bookclub but also for a later date for our Tuesday bookclub. So we just apparently really wanted to read this one, since we accidentally did it twice. But I have to say that this was super cute and I could not put it down. It was a 100 pages of adorable and I will have to actually check out more by this author duo.

This very short 60 page story was one that I won't soon forget. It had everything you could ask for in a quick read. Romance, heartbreak, family, and finding your person. And one fluffy little dog!! This is the perfect story for the summer.

As much as I wanted to really enjoy this one it was just so boring. The parts with all the murder and competition were wonderful. However, the parts in-between those parts were just flat and boring. I gave this book two tries before I called it quits.

This one was worth the read for the most part. I enjoyed the story but really think that it could have just been one book and not two or more. Parts of the book were pages of the MC swooning over the love interest and it not only felt out of place it felt very juvenile and this book is not YA. Overall I think fans of Sarah J. Maas might love this one as well as those who enjoyed Holly Black's The Cruel Prince.
Will I check out the next book in the series? If I am fortunate enough to snag a review copy I will definitely check it out. I want to say that this is a debut and as one it was pretty on par with what you usually get with a debut author. Kind of clunky but they will find their way.

I so loved this one to start but sadly around a 100 pages it was still going no where. It was to overlay done with information about the crew which could have been done through out the story at large. The story we got started off amazing and bam boom OMG what is going to happen next but then just fizzled out to nothing.

This was an adorable story that I wish would have tied up some loose ends. If you have read it you know what I am talking about. The magic in this one was cute and simple and I wouldn't mind another story set in this world. The characters were adorable and the flow worked well. If you are looking for a simple story to read this summer at the beach this is it.

I was so excited for this beautiful book. It had this amazing cover and full hardcase wrap. So I dived into this one and was meshing so well with it. But after a few chapters this book pretty much like most of the other Red Tower Books fell flat. This felt like a mash up of a ton of other fairy tales, and it just didn't work at all for this reader. It was badly done and just a mess. The two spicy parts we got were horrible and the rest of the book felt more like young adult vs. adult. I swear that Red Tower had this amazing story with Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. But after reading another book from Yarros I now feel it's more the author is just a really good writer vs. that red tower found a golden goose.
Overall, this one if you enjoyed six of crows this one might be for you. But for me it was just a disappointment.

This book was horrible at less than 40 pages I don't even know why I tried to do read it all. The way it was written makes me not want to try any of the authors others books at all. It was just that bad.

I have not cried this bad from a book in ages. This book wrecked me!!! I ugly sobbed in the car finishing this one up and man it was so heart wrenching. If you need to destroy your emotions then this is is the book to read. And if you are a lover of her Fourth Wing books man this book has me terrified on what she is going to do to us in that other series.

This was the last ditch effort to see if I enjoyed anything from Katee Roberts and I have to say that I did not. This book was a weird supposedly retelling and reimagining of Aladdin but lord was it just a smut fest.
