"A theater prompter lives in my head and shouts cues at me incessantly. Don't touch your face. Smile. Say 'Thank you.' Laugh. Take your jacket off. Hang it on the chair. Smile. Smile. Not too wide. No teeth."

Enid is my internal monologue, and I think she will resonate with a lot of readers who, like Enid, felt like they were always a little off. Lovely book, I laughed, I cried, I clutched my pearls. Emily Austin is a new favorite.

I really thought I'd love this. It was cute, entertaining, and I had fun reading it. But it was a bit too on the nose for me.
