Reign of a King by Rina Kent

The story was pretty anticlimactic compared to the RES series. I really thought that some issues with Maxim would have been resolved by the end.
Jonathan and Aurora deep dived head first with no helmet into their relationship and I felt like there was no room for marinating so I didn't enjoy their love story as much but I definitely ate up all the little back and forth banter. It's cute to see Jonathan as Mr. so so serious but then throw in a little sassy comment.

Jonathan became a cute little soft man cutie. There were a few gaps that should have been more indepth especially revolving around the shadow person so it wasn't that shocker wide eye for me. Personally, the word arse is also an ick word for me now..
Spoiler alert: A small rant about shadow person:

That was so lame I was expecting build up or someone interesting but seriously Margot and Tom just basically pranking Alicia until she flamed out and then them doing jokester pranks to try and put Aurora in the same state... like imagine these two hooligans hiding a portable phone speaker on a shelf and searching up whisper sounds on Youtube just to try and make you go crazy when you walk past

I read it without context and what lol. I'm all for the protector energy and I love a good slow fall but I put it as 4 stars because I realized I have a few icks.
1. I don't like when characters start singing or any type of performance, not my cup of tea.
2. I realized that I'm not about the whole fly across the country to win you back type of love - or the expectations that you come crawling back and I'll just jump into your arms again.

Maybe my taste is so off but this was not what I was expecting. I was ready for like a WAR WAR but I think I was lost for a good amount of the book. It took me a really long time to push through and even then I didn't get the oomf that I was hoping for in Iron Flame as that has been my favourite so far (I'm aware people say IF is the worst but I ate that up).

♠♠♠ To have someone be so obsessed with you as Nico.
Perfect pace, perfect burn, I really loved all of the characters and I felt that everyone was built and introduced really well.
I cannot get over the detail into Nico's actions and emotions because I'm FEELING EVERYTHING through the paragraphs. Maybe I'm toxic for wanting this type of love, idk sue me.
