It was a wonderful whimsical and loveable book, a good autumn-cozy book indeed. Takes place towards the end of Jane Austen England with some added Faerie in it, but not in a non-sensical way, quite the contrary, it makes the story delightful, very funny and a great read and the romance in it is delightful.

This book lived up to its many recommendations, a wonderful story, a story for book lovers in specific, with a new take on magic that I thoroughly enjoyed, because it was more realistic to me, being all powerful is not good for a healthy psyche after all…. the story has everything, and was very intelligent. It touches many profound concepts and lets you see them in a new light, like the fact that beauty apparent goodness an be evil and vice versa, while still not being untrue to their nature. Elisabeth might just be my all time favourite heroine, and that‘s saying something. Def. worth to get also in paper, it‘s very much worth rereading.

This is a workbook, a practical guide to uncover your true self, learn to connect with yourself, learn to trust, care for and love your true self. The author is Cuban, and some passages are written from her perspective of society and capitalism - and who can fault her for that! At times a reader who does not have a background of indigenous people who have been oppressed by colonialism has a hard time relating to the motivation behind a few suggested practices, but that doesn‘t mean that they can‘t be understood and adapted for your true self if you keep an open mind and perspective. These small parts shouldn‘t stop anybody from growing in your spiritual practice and in your psychological understanding of your own self. Since the practice of self-love and self-compassion are proven to be core pillars of developing your sense of self and your self-worth, this book is an extremely valuable practical guide to achieve that and grow as a person in every way. I know I will keep using the many prompts in this book for journal prompts, the exercises for re-centering myself when I‘ve lost touch and the oracle card decks that have been co-created by Juliet Diaz as a daily guidance to stay connected, every day, with what is the essence of life.

The second audio book in the series is even better than the first, with a lot more action, but the same perfect pacing and tale-like writing style of Tamora Pierce. While in the first book the four children got to know each other, in this book they fully become the circle. The audio book quality is the same great one, with a voice actor for each character and sound effects, plus of course Tamora Pierce as the narrator, which makes it doubly vivid. I got it on audible and will keep listening to the series like that. Thoroughly enjoyed the tale, their fight against the pirates and how they become friends despite them being so very different from each other. Wonderful book again!

The last book in the Lioness series is maybe the best with an amazing showdown. Alanna comes into her full power as a knight and a woman and the combination of both is a breathtaking ride. It‘s easy to see who she becomes a legend in her world, when even I, the reader, has become a fan of the heroine. Her journey to becoming this legend is every step as believable and real as if it had happened in the real world, irrespective of the magic involved, her challenges to overcome are so realistic, suitable and real that she becomes a heroine and a woman to admire. I will get this series as paperback, as I‘m sure to read it many more times. It‘s the best fantasy series I‘ve read in ages, and I wish I had discovered Tamora Pierce years ago, when I was in dire need of a great fantasy read.
