Downbelow Station by C.J. Cherryh

I wasn’t able to root for anyone. Did not enjoy the portrayal of the military. I found no one likeable. Even the “good” people were so milk-toast that at most you could say about them was that they were good. Signy was weird, almost sadistic at times and oddly agreeable at others. The aliens were pretty interesting.

This one was great too. I liked the previous mystery better but this one was pretty interesting as well. A few conveniences and some secrets pulled out of nowhere, but they were easy to ignore.

Well, rather strange. I did not enjoy it as much as I expected. The eerie comparison to Mitch Albom soured the experience for me.

Not great. Didn’t enjoy it much. The story was mediocre and the structure was rather boring. So were the characters.

This was a great read! Really fun. The plot stretched believability in many places but that did not detract from my overall enjoyment. The ending was a bit much but still fit in with the rest of the story.

Grrrr... I hate ambiguous endings. I almost grasped at some sort of an answer. This book needs re-reading but I’m not up to it at the moment. It was a tough start but I enjoyed most of the book. Even the frustrating ending.

OMG, what an odd little book! It was such a strange experience. Dull at first, ok in the middle although somewhat tedious, and awkwardly hilarious in the end. I can’t quite make up my mind on how I feel about it. I mean, it’s unique at least.

Needed something to listen to while driving. It's a good narration. The story is pretty interesting too. A bit dated. Some disconnected interludes are a bit odd but don't really get in the way.
I haven seen the movie so most of the plot was a surprise. Not a biggest fan of abrupt endings but it worked for this book.

Wild ride. Read it in one go. Impossible to put this book down. Very neat ending but it worked.
